Chapter 30 A Battle Sparked by a Breakfast

The Seoul Olympics closed in October 1988.

Deok-sun's House

"Hey! Get up!" Deok-sun placed the breakfast on the floor, glanced at him who was almost asleep under the cupboard, and complained, "Why does this kid always run down there?"

"Get up! Sung Yu-hui! You're going to be late for school!" Deok-sun shouted.

"What time is it, sis!" Yu Hui seemed to wake from a dream.

"It's 6:30, hurry up and finish eating and wash up!" Deok-sun replied helplessly. She was the one who did everything when her mother wasn't home, and she even had to wake up her silly younger brother.

Just then, the phone rang. Deok-sun glanced at the phone, reached out and picked it up.

"Hello? Mom!"

"Hmm~ Are you up? Have you eaten?"

"She's eating! How's Grandma?"

"Yes, that's good. You'll be fully recovered and discharged in a while. Mom talked to the hospital and we've decided to remove the nursing care to save some money. Mom will be taking care of Grandma at the hospital these next few days. You'll be eating at home by yourselves for a few days. Have you packed your lunchboxes yet?"

"Okay, it's all packed. Is Dad coming home?"

"Dad is staying here with Grandma all day and won't go back. What about my sister? Did you wake her up? She needs to go to school early today."

After saying that, he continued eating.

Yu Hui looked helpless and could only get up and go inside.

When Yu Hui heard his older sister speak, he responded and went out. He sat down next to Deok-sun, picked up some food, and said to her, "She told you to eat as much as you want!"

Deok-sun gritted her teeth in anger, slapped Yu-hui on the head, and shouted with wide eyes, "Tell her that if she doesn't eat, I'm going to wash up first!"

"What bad luck~~" Yu Hui was speechless. His two older sisters were fighting, and he, the middleman, was the one suffering the most.

Yu Hui walked over to Bora's side, thinking that Deok-sun had patted her head. He actually relayed the message and patted Bora's head, instantly waking her up.

"If you're not going to eat it, I'll go wash it first!" That's what she said. Yu Hui said as he backed away.

"If you want to die, then do it! If you want to die, then do it!" Paula said, punching Yu Hui twice, before lying back down.

"Oh." Yu Hui covered her arm and went out.

Watching Deok-sun eat, Yu-hui raised his fist and gently punched her, saying, "She said, 'If you want to die, then do it! If you want to die, then do it!'"

Seeing Yu Hui mimicking her actions, Deok-sun angrily put down her chopsticks, slapped Yu Hui's head, and shouted, "Is this fun?! Is this fun?! I'll teach you to be fun! Are you looking for trouble?!"

"Ugh!! Seriously! They're all crazy!" Yu Hui was so angry from being bullied by the two 'Paula's' that he broke down and shouted.

Deok-sun looked at Yu-hui shouting and slapped him on the back of the head again.

This slap was the final straw that broke Yu Hui's back. Bullied by his two older sisters, he could only stand there crying, calling for his mother...

Beside the sink, Deok-sun picked up a ladle and filled the basin with water. Just as she was about to take off the towel from her head to wash her hair, Bora appeared from behind and kicked her, causing Deok-sun to fall directly into the basin.

"Ah! That's enough!" Deok-sun glared angrily at Bora.

"Don't you understand hierarchy? Why did you wash first?" (Koreans are very strict about hierarchy.) Bora said to Deok-sun.

"You haven't washed yet? It's already very late!" Deok-sun shouted angrily and aggrievedly.

“I clearly told you yesterday that I wanted to shower first,” Paula said.

“Then you should get up and take a shower earlier!” Deok-sun replied.

"What? You?" Bora's expression changed instantly when she heard Deok-sun use a non-honorific.

"Do you think you're the king?" Deok-sun asked, still hovering near the limit of Bora's patience as she watched Bora's expression change.

"Huh?" Again, she didn't use honorifics. As the eldest daughter, Bora was more mature than Deoksun and liked to correct other people's mistakes more like an adult. She couldn't help but feel annoyed as she watched Deoksun recklessly courting death.

"Yes! Ya ya ya!" Deok-sun was a little rebellious and had long been dissatisfied with her sister's 'arrogance and domineering', so she shouted three times.

"Ugh!" Paula was so angry that she picked up a water ladle next to her, scooped up some water, and splashed it at him.
