Kelly is just that kind of person. Xiang Yuntian knew her well when they were in school, so there's no way he could ever fall in love with her.

Kelly walked up to Bai Mengfei, looked at her intently, and asked, "You're only 18, right? And you've been working for less than a year, yet you've solved more major cases than many veteran officers. No wonder Yun Tian likes you."

"Whether he likes me or not is between us, and I don't think I need to explain it to you," Bai Mengfei said.

Kelly smiled and looked away. After a few seconds of silence, she slowly turned her head back, looking sharply at Bai Mengfei, and said, "Is it really none of my business? I think there are some things he might not have told you?"

"What is it?" Bai Mengfei asked, frowning.

Kelly turned to look at Xiang Yuntian and said, "Didn't he tell you how he got me here?"

"How did they invite them?" Bai Mengfei already had a rough idea in her mind.

Xiang Yuntian slowly breathed a sigh of relief and told the truth: "Okay, I agreed to date her before she would come and help."

“Did you hear that? So he’s my boyfriend,” Kelly said arrogantly.

Bai Mengfei smiled calmly, nodded gently, and said, "Alright, since that's the case, I won't force you. I wish you happiness." After saying that, Bai Mengfei turned to leave.

Xiang Yuntian quickly grabbed her hand to stop her from leaving and explained, "Wait a minute, listen to me."

Then he turned to Kelly and said, "You know, I only agreed to come and help you. Actually, she's my girlfriend."

As he spoke, Xiang Yuntian directly took Bai Mengfei's hand and showed it to Kelly.

Kelly stared blankly at their clasped hands, completely stunned. She smiled faintly, nodded slightly, and said, "This is truly unbelievable."

Behind that smile lay a hidden anger, which she forcefully suppressed.

Everyone says that angry women are terrifying, but Xiang Yuntian and Bai Mengfei remained calm and composed.

Xiang Yuntian had no intention of letting go, and Bai Mengfei did not back down or break free from Xiang Yuntian's grasp.

Kelly wasn't the type to throw a tantrum, so instead of laughing, she clapped her hands lightly and said in a tearful voice, "Great! Humph! But you just wait!"

After saying that, she walked straight ahead, forcefully pushed the two of them aside, and walked between them.

After she left, Xiang Yuntian apologized to Bai Mengfei: "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have kept it from you."

"It's alright." Bai Mengfei shrugged slightly and smiled calmly. "Actually, if I were you, I would have done the same. You only agreed to her because of the bigger picture, which I understand."

"Hmm." Xiang Yuntian silently turned around and gently closed the door.

Just as he was about to turn around, Bai Mengfei asked, "Won't something happen to her if she runs out like that all by herself?"

Xiang Yuntian took a deep breath, thought for a moment, slowly shook his head, and said, "I think everything should be fine."

"That's good." Bai Mengfei nodded gently.

Late at night, the two were in the room, and as usual, Xiang Yuntian slept on the floor while Bai Mengfei slept on the bed.

Because of Kelly's presence, Bai Mengfei and Xiang Yuntian both had trouble sleeping, as no one could predict what a woman who had been hurt in a relationship might do.

"Are you asleep?" Bai Mengfei finally spoke first.

Xiang Yuntian answered in a low voice, "Not yet, what about you?"

"I didn't sleep either," Bai Mengfei said softly.

Bai Mengfei hummed in agreement, then got to the important matter on her mind: "I wonder if Kelly will do something foolish."

"No, from what I know of her, she's not that kind of person. She wouldn't do anything extreme," Xiang Yuntian said in a low voice.

Bai Mengfei smiled slightly and said, "I hope it really isn't true!"

"No, don't overthink it. Go get some rest."

Although Bai Mengfei silently nodded in agreement, her heart was still filled with worry, and she turned over in bed. She indeed tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

After tossing and turning a few times, she realized she couldn't fall asleep, so she propped herself up on the bed with her hands and said to Xiang Yuntian, "Actually, I feel quite sad."

"What's wrong?" Xiang Yuntian asked softly.

She shook her head gently and said, "It's nothing, I just feel uneasy."

Xiang Yuntian immediately sat up, even getting up and walking over to her side. He looked at her with concern and asked, "What's wrong? Why are you feeling uneasy?"

"I just can't sleep, I guess I have insomnia." After saying that, Bai Mengfei sat up, turned around, and walked towards the window.

She drew back the curtains, opened the window, and sat on the windowsill, gazing outside. Xiang Yuntian sat beside her, saying nothing, simply watching her fair face.

Looking out the window, she looked melancholy and said, "I have a feeling that something is about to happen, do you understand?"

"What could possibly happen?" Xiang Yuntian smiled gently and said in a doting tone, "Don't think too much about it!"

Bai Mengfei nodded slightly, but her face still showed deep irritation.

Neither of them slept well all night. It wasn't until around 6 a.m. the next morning that they heard another knock on the door. Xiang Yuntian, who was sleeping on the floor, propped himself up on the mattress he was using as a bed, and groggily got up to open the door.

As soon as he opened the door, he saw Zhen Liang standing outside.

"Uh, Forensic Doctor Xiang," Zhen Liang said in a low voice, "Are you ready? Can we begin the investigation?"

"Investigate? Now?" Xiang Yuntian turned to look at the sky and said, "We haven't started work yet, come back later!"

Zhen Liang had been excited all night, but after hearing Xiang Yuntian say that, he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.

He frowned slightly, remained silent for a moment, and then said, "Alright then, I'll come back later."

"Okay, you can go back now!" Xiang Yuntian said, yawning and closing the door behind him. He didn't know that Kelly hadn't given up and had stayed up all night in the hallway outside.

He didn't go out to check, otherwise he would have seen it.

Kelly sat alone on the stairs, hugging her legs and burying her face in her knees, and slept like that all night.
