Chapter 183 - 169: Never Leave, Never Forsake

Chapter 183 - 169: Never Leave, Never Forsake

Luna Langley returned to the bedroom, her heart still thumping wildly.

She was excited, yet at a loss, so she paced back and forth mechanically, trying to calm herself down.

A moment later, the bedroom door was pushed open, and Silas Lockwood walked in.

She looked at him, her face flushing against her will.

"Did you hear what I said to my mom just now?" Silas Lockwood asked.

Luna Langley nodded.

"So, is there anything you want to ask?"

"The Langley Group is in some trouble. Are you going to divorce me?"

"No." He answered without hesitation. "No matter what happens to you, I won’t divorce you. We’re husband and wife, so we should weather the storm together and never leave each other’s side."

Even though she’d heard his answer before, hearing it again still made her heart race.

"When the Lockwood Group was in trouble, you helped me. I’m not a heartless person. I wouldn’t kick my own benefactor when she’s down. Besides, you heard me just now. I like you, and I want to face everything with you."

The corners of Luna Langley’s lips lifted. "You really like me?"

"Of course it’s true. The reason I wasn’t friendly to Arthur Vance was because I was jealous of him."

For him to bring up Arthur Vance out of nowhere... Luna Langley couldn’t help but laugh.

"What are you laughing at?" Silas Lockwood couldn’t quite gauge her feelings. "Are you laughing because you think it’s just my own wishful thinking?"

"No, it’s not wishful thinking." Luna Langley walked up to Silas Lockwood. "I like you, too. In fact, I’ve liked you for a long time."

Luna Langley told him how she had fallen in love with Silas Lockwood at first sight at the airport.

"In all these years, I’ve only ever gone on one blind date—the one with you. I only went because I knew you were the one I’d be meeting."

Unfortunately, Silas Lockwood hadn’t taken a liking to her after that date.

But that didn’t matter. After all the twists and turns, he was still hers.

Silas Lockwood was moved by Luna Langley’s honest confession. He stepped forward and gently embraced her.

They were both mature adults, not prone to sappy declarations. But at that moment, a silent embrace said more than words ever could.

After what felt like a long time, Silas Lockwood was the first to let her go.

"What kind of trouble is the Langley Group in? If there’s anything I can do, just say the word."

"It’s fine. I can handle it myself."

"I’m your husband. You don’t have to do everything by yourself."

"I’m used to it."

"You have to let me feel needed sometimes. Otherwise, I’ll start to think you don’t really need me."

"Oh, I need you very much." Luna Langley stood on her tiptoes to kiss Silas Lockwood’s lips, then whispered in his ear, "In bed."

Silas Lockwood: "..."

--

The next day, Luna Langley returned to the Langley family estate.

As soon as the butler, Hugo Lowell, saw her, he jogged over. "Miss, the Old Master suddenly fell ill last night."

Luna Langley wasn’t surprised.

"Take me to him."

"Yes, Miss."

At Eastwood Manor, Luna Langley found the Old Master bedridden. The old man who usually glared at her with furious, wide eyes now looked like a deflated balloon, his face withered and pale.

"Grandfather." Luna Langley walked to his bedside.

The Old Master raised his eyes. Seeing her, a flicker of fire and life finally sparked in his withered, cloudy eyes. "It was you? You’re the one who had those documents sent over?"

"I am," Luna Langley admitted directly.

"They’re fake, right? You framed Abby, didn’t you?"

The documents Luna Langley had sent over were proof that her uncle, Blake Langley, had orchestrated the car crash that killed her father and younger brother. From the moment she began to question the cause of their deaths, she had been secretly investigating. It had taken her over a year to gather all this evidence.

"The evidence is all real. My dad and Finn were both killed by your precious youngest son. It’s useless to keep deceiving yourself. Your son is a monster."

"No, impossible! This is impossible!"

The Old Master’s face was filled with disbelief. He clutched his chest and suddenly began to cough violently.

Luna Langley felt no pity for this old man. He had favored sons over daughters his entire life and had done nothing but endlessly suppress her.

"Blake Langley orchestrated that car crash. You lost your eldest son and your grandson because of his selfishness and greed. A life for a life. Now, he is about to pay the price for what he’s done!"

"No! Luna, listen to Grandfather, please. You can’t give this evidence to the police! I’m begging you. Your uncle is the only male heir left in the Langley Family. He has to carry on our family line!"

"What kind of family line can an inhuman beast like him carry on? If we let him stay, he’ll probably destroy the company my dad left behind. When that happens, forget about your descendants—you’ll be left with nothing!" Luna Langley looked coldly at the Old Master. "Blake Langley should be at the police station by now. From this day forward, I’m the only one you can rely on. So hand over your shares in the Langley Group, retire in peace, and stop meddling in things that are no longer your concern!"

"Luna Langley, you heartless woman! Don’t even think about getting your hands on my shares!"

"It’s fine if you don’t. You have no living children left. The moment you kick the bucket, those shares will be mine anyway. We’ll just have to see who outlasts whom."

After saying her piece, Luna Langley turned and walked away.

Silas Lockwood was waiting for her outside the Langley estate. Seeing her emerge, he got out of the car and opened the door for her.

"Victorious?"

"Of course."

"My wife is amazing!" He gently patted Luna Langley’s head. "Get in. I’ll take you to dinner."
