Chapter 1 An Unexpected Incident in the Research Lab

Wanru stood at the workbench in the research lab, her eyes fixed intently on the Warring States period artifacts that had recently been unearthed. Her slender fingers gently traced the ancient patterns on the surface of the artifacts, her heart filled with curiosity and a desire to explore that distant era.

As a young and highly talented researcher of the Warring States period, these artifacts are like keys to unlocking a door to another world for her. She loves her research and is thrilled by every new discovery.

Today, she is conducting a detailed analysis of a uniquely shaped bronze ding (a type of ancient Chinese cooking vessel). The laboratory is so quiet that only her soft breathing and the hum of the instruments can be heard. She carefully extracts some samples of rust from the ding, preparing to observe them under a high-precision microscope.

Just as she placed the sample and prepared to adjust the microscope parameters, the lights in the laboratory suddenly flickered violently without warning. Wanru looked up in surprise, and before she could react, a strange energy fluctuation suddenly spread out from the bronze cauldron.

Wanru felt a powerful force instantly engulf her, and her body was involuntarily thrown backward, crashing heavily into the filing cabinet behind her. Immediately afterward, a blinding light filled her vision, and she instinctively closed her eyes, a surge of intense fear washing over her.

"What's going on?" Wanru cried out in her heart in terror. She tried to struggle to stand up, but the force was like an invisible hand, tightly binding her and making her unable to move.

However, just when she thought it was all over, the light suddenly disappeared, and the power binding her vanished as well. Wanru slowly opened her eyes, only to be stunned by the scene before her.

The once modern research lab was gone, replaced by a lush, verdant forest. She lay on a soft patch of grass, surrounded by tall trees, sunlight filtering through the leaves and creating patches of golden light.

Wanru stared wide-eyed at what she was seeing, incredulous. She pinched herself hard, the pain confirming that she wasn't dreaming.

"I...I've time-traveled?" Wanru's voice trembled slightly with fear. She stood up, looked around, and felt a wave of panic wash over her.

This place was completely unfamiliar to her. She didn't know where she was or how to get back to the modern world. She began to run blindly through the mountains and forests, trying to find a familiar trace or a way back.

But the forest seemed endless, and the more she ran, the more lost and helpless she felt. Sweat soaked her clothes, and her breathing became increasingly rapid.

Just when she was exhausted and about to give up, she suddenly heard the faint sound of horses' hooves and human voices.

Wanru was startled and instinctively hid behind a large tree. Through the gaps in the tree trunk, she nervously looked in the direction from which the sound came, her heart filled with doubt and unease.

The sound of horses' hooves and voices grew closer, and Wanru's heart leaped into her throat. She didn't know who was coming, friend or foe. In this unfamiliar era, she had absolutely no ability to protect herself.

At that moment, she had no idea that her fate was about to be completely changed because of this encounter.
