Chapter 28 The Mysterious Stone Platform and Wanru's Crisis
The increasingly intense light on the stone platform resembled a ferocious beast, its jaws wide open, ready to devour Wanru completely. As the light flickered, Wanru's figure became increasingly blurred, and the fear and worry in her eyes intensified, yet she could only helplessly remain trapped in that invisible constraint.
Huanmo was frantic with worry. He relentlessly tried to break through the barrier of light to rescue Wanru, and each time he was repelled, his anxiety intensified. His eyes were bloodshot with anger and desperation, and his heart was filled with self-reproach. In this unfamiliar and dangerous place, he had failed to protect Wanru, watching helplessly as she fell into such a desperate situation. He felt as if he were the most incompetent person in the world. "Wanru, you must hold on! I will definitely save you!" Huanmo cried out in his heart, and once again rushed towards the light without hesitation.
The man in white frowned, his jade flute emitting rapid, shrill sounds as he played it with all his might, attempting to use the mysterious melody to counteract the light enveloping Wanru. However, the light seemed unmoved, relentlessly shining and slowly devouring Wanru. The man in white grew anxious, pondering why the power of this mysterious stone platform was so strong—was there truly no way to break it?
Qingwan gripped the spirit pearl tightly, her incantations growing more rapid, and the pearl's light becoming increasingly dazzling. Yet, even so, she still felt powerless against the light emanating from the stone platform. Her face grew paler, her forehead covered in fine beads of sweat, and her eyes were filled with worry. She knew this place was mysterious and unpredictable, but she hadn't expected the danger to come so suddenly, and to directly threaten Wanru's life.
The white tiger paced back and forth, letting out low roars. Its blue eyes were fixed on the light on the stone platform and the trapped Wanru. It seemed anxious about the sudden situation but powerless to do anything about it.
Just when everyone felt despair, the light on the stone platform suddenly flickered a few times, and Wanru's figure temporarily stopped blurring, as if the devouring force of the light had been slightly restrained.
Seeing this, Huanmo felt a glimmer of hope. He stopped what he was doing and stared intently at Wanru, afraid of missing any chance for a turn of events. "Wanru, how are you?" he shouted, his voice trembling slightly with tension.
Wanru blinked slightly, indicating that she was alright for the time being, but she was still unable to move or speak. She could only communicate her inner fear and trust in Huanmo through her eyes.
However, this glimmer of hope did not last long. A moment later, the light on the stone platform surged again, even more intensely than before, and Wanru's figure began to blur rapidly once more. The light seemed to carry a resolute aura, determined to erase Wanru from everyone's sight.
Huanmo roared in despair and charged toward the light once again, disregarding the potential harm he might suffer. He only wanted to do everything in his power to save Wanru.
Just as Huanmo was about to touch the light, a strange power surged from his body. He had never felt this power before, but it suddenly appeared at this moment and collided with the light on the stone platform.
With a burst of intense light and energy fluctuations, Huanmo broke through the barrier of light and arrived directly beside Wanru.
He hurriedly embraced Wanru, and the invisible restraint vanished the moment Huanmo touched her. Wanru collapsed into Huanmo's arms, her body still trembling slightly, her eyes filled with tears.
"Huanmo, I... I thought I would never see you again," Wanru said, her voice choked with sobs.
Huanmo hugged Wanru tightly and said with heartache, "It's alright, it's alright. I'm here, I won't let you get hurt anymore."
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they saw that Huanmo had successfully rescued Wanru.
Before they could even catch their breath, the mysterious symbols and patterns on the stone platform suddenly began to flash, and beams of light shot out from the platform, weaving together a huge scroll of light and shadow inside the pavilion.
The painting depicts a vast desert, with the sun blazing high and yellow sand swirling in the air. In the heart of the desert stands an ancient and mysterious pyramid, exuding an awe-inspiring aura.
"What... what's going on?" Wanru stared in surprise at the scroll of light and shadow, her mind filled with doubt.
Huanmo also frowned, staring at the scene in the scroll. He, too, did not understand what this suddenly appearing scene meant.
The man in white said thoughtfully, "Perhaps this is guiding us in some way. Along the way, every mysterious phenomenon seems to be connected in some way, or perhaps it is hinting at where we are going next."
Qingwan nodded in agreement. Looking at the light and shadow painting, she said, "This pyramid looks very mysterious. Maybe we need to go there to unravel this series of mysteries and find a way out of here."
Just as everyone was discussing the painting of light and shadow, a howling wind suddenly came from outside the pavilion. The wind grew stronger and stronger, as if a storm was about to break.
Huanmo looked warily outside the pavilion and saw that the once clear sky had suddenly become covered with dark clouds. A howling wind swept in, blowing the trees by the lake to the side and scattering the strange flowers and plants.
"Oh no! This storm came too suddenly! We need to find somewhere to hide right away!" Huanmo shouted.
But there was nowhere to shelter from the wind and rain on this small island, except for this ancient pavilion.
Just as everyone was hesitating whether to stay in the pavilion to avoid the storm, the scroll of light and shadow suddenly emitted a strong light that enveloped them. Then, everything went black before their eyes, and they lost consciousness.
