Chapter 449 My heart is full of worries
Chapter 449 My heart is full of worries
He Yi called the next afternoon.
He Yi called Gu Zhiyao's cell phone directly. Gu Zhiyao's heart skipped a beat when she saw the caller ID, but after a moment's hesitation, she let Chenchen answer.
Chenchen pressed the answer button, "Dad!"
Hearing his son's voice, He Yi was somewhat surprised, "Where's Mom?"
"Mom's busy, she told me to take the call first," Chenchen replied, glancing at his mother. Then he continued, "Dad, you've gone back to China, right? You weren't even told we you were discharged. We went to the hospital to look for you yesterday, but they said you'd already been discharged."
"You went to the hospital? You and your sister?" He Yi's tone revealed a hint of excitement. He actually wanted to know if Gu Zhiyao had taken them, so he was a little excited.
Unfortunately, Chenchen's next answer shattered his illusions: "Well, Uncle Xiao took my sister and me there. Later, I asked Uncle Li Xin and found out that you had returned to China."
It turns out that it was Xiao Lin who took them there, not Gu Zhiyao!
He Yi's joy quickly turned to disappointment. After a moment of hesitation, he said in a low voice, "Something happened at the company in China, and Dad has to rush back to deal with it. I'm sorry, Chenchen, Dad left in such a hurry that I didn't have time to tell you."
“It’s okay, Dad, you don’t need to apologize. It’s just that my little sister is a bit unhappy. She kept crying and saying that Dad has forgotten her and doesn’t want to talk to her anymore. We coaxed her for a long time before she calmed down, but she’s still not completely in a good mood.” Chenchen said this with ulterior motives. He felt that since his father had amnesia, he didn’t have those deep feelings for them anymore. He said this to test his father’s feelings and hoped to touch his father’s heart.
He Yi wasn't truly suffering from amnesia. Hearing this, he felt a pang of sadness. Although he spent more time with his son, he loved his daughter more, and the little girl's behavior made him feel even more heartbroken.
His heart broke at the thought of the little girl's aggrieved, sad, and tearful face. He wished he could tell his son immediately that his father had not lost his memory and of course remembered them!
"Is your sister over there?" He asked after calming down.
"She went to play at the neighbor's house and won't be back until later. Dad, do you want to talk to her now? I'll go and call her back."
"No need for now, let her have some fun there. Dad will contact her later, or you can call Dad later."
"Okay." Chenchen glanced at Gu Zhiyao again, his intentions clear. Gu Zhiyao took a deep breath, smiled slightly at him, and walked towards the calligraphy.
Chenchen's face fell, filled with helplessness.
At this moment, He Yi called out to him again.
"Dad, I'm here. By the way, when will you come over here again?"
He Yi hesitated for a moment before replying, "It's not certain yet. There are a lot of things to do after the New Year, so I probably won't be able to come over in the short term. Dad will keep in touch with you often, and you can call me anytime if you miss Dad."
Even the usually calm and composed Chenchen felt uneasy upon hearing this. Although he always comforted and advised his sister not to worry too much about their father's amnesia, he was also feeling lost and anxious, wondering when their father would regain his memory and what would happen if their father never did.
"Dad, then take care of yourself and don't work too hard. If you're healthy, your memory will recover as soon as possible," Chenchen said hesitantly after a while.
He Yi hummed in agreement. "Dad will. You take care of yourself too. Since Dad isn't around, you need to take care of your little sister and Mom, okay? Can you do it?"
Upon hearing this, Chenchen immediately perked up and answered loudly, "I can do it! I will take good care of Mom and my sister, Dad, don't worry."
"Okay. Dad believes you can do it."
The father and son then talked about other things, such as asking about the old lady's condition. He Yi then talked to Chenchen about some work matters. The call ended after more than half an hour.
Chenchen went to the study, handed his phone to Gu Zhiyao, and then selectively told Gu Zhiyao some information.
"Mom, Dad said he's been very busy since the start of the new year, and he'll come over after he's done. He also told me to take good care of you and my sister!"
Gu Zhiyao's pretty face froze slightly as she stared blankly at her son.
Chenchen took her hand and continued to smile, "Mom, I will work hard to grow up and become as tall and mighty as Dad as soon as possible!"
Gu Zhiyao couldn't help but smile indulgently and nodded, "Yes, Mom believes you are just as brave as Dad. By the way, would you like to play a game of Go with Mom?"
"Okay!"
Playing Go with her son, Gu Zhiyao cast aside her chaotic thoughts and enjoyed a moment of tranquility.
Time passed by unnoticed, and before we knew it, it was evening. Niu Niu returned.
She froze when she saw her mother and brother engrossed in playing Go in the study.
After all, she hasn't fully reconciled with her mother yet!
Even her mother didn't comfort her!
After Chenchen finished playing a game with his mother, he noticed his little sister standing at the door. The little girl was pouting, wanting to come in but too shy to do so, looking all wronged. Chenchen couldn't help but laugh and quickly waved to her, "Niu Niu, come here and cheer your brother on."
The little girl seemed to have been waiting for these words, so she quickly ran closer, her big, dark eyes subtly sweeping over Gu Zhiyao.
Gu Zhiyao found it amusing, after all, she was her own daughter, and she knew the little girl's temperament quite well. So she kept a straight face and pretended not to look at her.
Sure enough, the little girl pouted again, slowly sat down, and didn't say a word.
Gu Zhiyao and Chenchen played another game, and then Gu Zhiyao said to Chenchen, "Mom has a document to deal with. You guys play first, and we'll come out for dinner later."
After saying that, he went out.
I didn't watch Niu Niu!
Niu Niu watched her go with a sad and aggrieved look, then turned her gaze to her brother and said, "Brother, look, Mom isn't even paying attention to me!"
"And what about you? Shouldn't you have greeted Mom when you came in? But you didn't!" Chenchen said.
Niu Niu was taken aback for a moment, then said, "But Mommy said I'm her little darling!"
"So you take your mother's love for granted? Silly girl, love is reciprocal. If you want others to love you, you must also love them, especially your mother."
The little girl's eyes were brimming with tears; she looked so pitiful.
Chenchen couldn't bear to part with her in the end. He sighed and patted her little head, saying, "Daddy just called. I told him you went to the neighbor's house to play, and you can talk to him when you come back."
"What? Dad called?" The little girl was immediately intrigued.
Chenchen gave another wry smile and nodded, "I'll call Dad now, but I don't know if he'll be available."
After saying that, he dialed the number.
The call connected quickly, and it was He Yi's voice that came through, "Chenchen?"
