Chapter 41 Snake Demon
Everyone present was moved by the ghost's words, and Dongfang Ke'er couldn't help but secretly wipe away her tears.
Everyone was looking at Zhuo Yang, wanting to plead for the vengeful ghost.
Zhuo Yang looked at the vengeful ghost prostrate on the ground, pondered for a long time, and said indifferently, "After saying so much, do you think I would believe your nonsense?"
Ok?
Everyone was horrified. Couldn't they believe the ghost story?
The vengeful ghost raised her head, her expression one of utter astonishment: "I wasn't lying. I've been guarding my daughter on this mountain for over two hundred years."
"Heh!" Zhuo Yang chuckled coldly. "I actually believed what you said just now, but I was shocked when I heard what you said later."
"A vengeful ghost guarding his daughter, who is also a ghost? Do you think I'm a fool?"
The vengeful ghost scrambled back two steps, its face filled with terror, and said, "I wasn't lying!"
"You do!" Zhuo Yang shouted, his longsword flashing with lightning. "I'll give you one last chance. Tell the truth, or I'll obliterate your soul with a single strike!"
"I don't!"
The vengeful ghost screamed again, its voice shrill and mournful, as if it had suffered a great injustice.
Zhuo Yang smiled indifferently, holding his long sword, and approached her step by step.
The vengeful ghost seemed to have been driven to a dead end, and suddenly sprang up, leaping headfirst into the grass beside it.
"Humph!"
Zhuo Yang waved his hand, and a bolt of lightning struck the vengeful ghost precisely on the head.
In an instant, a wisp of green smoke dissipated, and the ghost's body was cleaved into ashes.
Everyone was so shocked that they couldn't speak. They couldn't understand why Zhuo Yang didn't believe the ghost's words and even insisted on killing it all. Wouldn't it have been better to convert a ghost?
Zhuo Yang walked to the spot where the vengeful ghost had been killed, his hawk-like eyes sweeping over it: "Get out here!"
An invisible sound wave, carrying immense power, spread out, and a muffled groan immediately came from the nearby woods.
Immediately afterwards, a rustling sound came from the woods.
Zhuo Yang leaped into the air, his demonic eyes fixed on the direction from which the sound came. The dark forest suddenly became much brighter, the weeds were swaying, and something of considerable size was fleeing at high speed.
"You cunning creature, if you run again, I'll send you to your death!"
A streak of dark light flew up from behind and vanished into the darkness in an instant.
The next moment, a scream came from the woods, seemingly from some kind of wild beast.
"Come out!" Zhuo Yang stared coldly at the motionless spot.
After a stalemate, the weeds began to stir again, and a giant python, as thick as a water bucket and ten meters long, crawled out of the grass. Behind it, Zhuo Yang's Immortal-Slaying Flying Knife floated.
"Wow, a snake!" Dongfang Ke'er was startled and jumped onto Ling Ling, clinging to her.
Forced by the Immortal-Slaying Flying Knife, the giant python crawled in front of Zhuo Yang, coiled up, raised its head high, and stared at Zhuo Yang with its terrifying snake eyes.
"A fleshy growth on your head means you've cultivated for five hundred years." Zhuo Yang smiled calmly. "Your vital energy concentration has increased over the past three months. You must have awakened then, preparing to undergo the tribulation and take human form?"
The giant python with a small fleshy growth on its forehead nodded, understanding Zhuo Yang's words.
"You do have some skill, so why did you team up with a fierce ghost to harm people?" Zhuo Yang asked coldly.
The giant python shook its head, its tongue flicking in and out, as if it had something to say but couldn't get it out.
Xiao Diao immediately jumped out of Zhuo Yang's bag, taking out a notebook to act as a translator.
“It’s not an alliance; the vengeful ghost is ferocious, and I am no match for it!” After writing neatly, Little Diao pointed at the giant python, meaning that it was what it had said.
Zhuo Yang said he understood, and then asked curiously, "A mere red-clothed ghost? With your five hundred years of cultivation, you'd be afraid of her?"
The giant python flicked its tongue a few times, and Xiao Diao immediately wrote: "The vengeful ghost was not born naturally, but was kept here by people!"
"Raising ghosts?"
Zhuo Yang frowned. Now he understood everything. No wonder that red-clothed ghost was so cunning and devoured so many souls, leaving many human faces on its body. It turned out that someone was raising ghosts!
"How long has it been?" Zhuo Yang asked in a deep voice.
After exchanging words with the giant python for a while, Xiao Diao wrote: "Two years ago, someone released a vengeful ghost on the mountain. Later, she was about to take human form and had to show herself. She was bullied badly by the vengeful ghost and could only hide, not daring to face the calamity."
"Her?" Zhuo Yang frowned, not expecting it to be a female giant python.
Without dwelling on that question, Zhuo Yang asked again, "Who kept this vengeful ghost here?"
The giant python's enormous head turned towards the eight people who were stunned in the distance, its lantern-like, terrifying eyes locking onto Dongfang Jiye!
Xiao Diao quickly communicated with her, writing, "That group of people said they would make Dongfang Jiye lose everything on his investment!"
Dongfang Jiye didn't see the writing board, but his businessman's instincts drove him over and he saw it.
"Who wants to get me?" He forced himself to ask, ignoring his fear of the giant python.
Xiao Diao quickly erased the words on the writing board and wrote again: "Cultivator! I don't know the name, but I'll definitely recognize it when I see it."
This means "giant python".
Dongfang Jiye clenched his fists, his heart filled with rage. No need to say more; he had already realized that his enemy was Fu Zhiqi, the very man who had fought him for this land.
Zhuo Yang asked the giant python a few more questions, and only after confirming that she hadn't come out to harm anyone did his expression relax.
"How about following me? I guarantee you'll break through to the Heavenly Demon level within ten years!"
The giant python was baffled. Ever since it gained sentience, it had been cultivating by absorbing the essence of the sun and moon on its own, and then it would fall asleep and not know how many thousands or hundreds of years had passed. It had no idea what a celestial demon was.
The little darling jumped in front of her, waving its arms and legs and squeaking excitedly.
Then, the python started banging its head against the ground, creating a large crater in the lawn.
Zhuo Yang realized she was kowtowing...
Out of consideration for being fellow members of the demon race, Zhuo Yang smiled and said, "Since you trust me, then I won't let you down. Go back to your lair and wait. Once I've set up a maze to conceal the mountaintop, you can come out and move around freely. At that time, I'll help you overcome your tribulation."
The giant python is banging its head against the lawn again.
Zhuo Yang waved for him to stand up and said with a smile, "I'll give you a name... Little Black!"
The giant python's massive body trembled from head to tail; its name was too awful, and it felt uncomfortable all over.
"What kind of name is this?" Little Diao covered his forehead, but soon became gloating. At least someone else had been given a terrible name by their owner, just like him.
Having been given a name, Xiao Hei crawled away, returning to its cave inside the mountain, quietly waiting for Zhuo Yang to set up a maze.
"Master, you are amazing!" Dongfang Ke'er ran over, grabbed Zhuo Yang's arm, her little face filled with admiration and pride.
Dongfang Jiye was jealous and said with a wry smile, "Mr. Zhuo, you killed the ghost first and then subdued the snake demon, which gave us quite a fright!"
Zhuo Yang's face turned cold as he said, "Mr. Dongfang, do you think I'm just here for you to watch a show?"
"Isn't that right?" Dongfang Jiye asked, bewildered.
Zhuo Yang said in a deep voice, "You first gave me money, then a villa, and even agreed to my excessive request for the mountain. Later, you were completely obedient to me, spending huge sums of money to buy an astonishing amount of medicinal herbs. Who would believe that you have no ulterior motives towards me?"
"Uh..." Dongfang Jiye looked embarrassed and forced a few laughs. "Mr. Zhuo, I admit it. I'm not afraid to tell you my purpose. I want the Dongfang family to take another step forward!"
