Chapter 2 System
Chapter 2 System
Yan Huai's consciousness and reaction were awakened by the torment of his body's bones cracking. He was forced to curl up and could not concentrate at all. The air around his nose was filled with a strong smell of blood that he had never encountered before, and his vision was blurred and dim.
Cold sweat gradually soaked his entire body. When the pain reached its peak, Yan Huai let out a roar. He could only endure it as if he couldn't faint, until the first light of dawn pierced through, allowing him to catch his breath before slowly falling asleep...
"Cough cough cough cough!" Yan Huai was awakened by the coughing, and then he heard an old man's voice calling out, "Donkey Egg, come and eat meat, it's time to get to work!"
"Wang-"
The barking of dogs grew louder as they approached. Yan Huai listened and realized they were only a few dozen steps away. He surveyed his surroundings and cautiously propped himself up.
This was a house built of mud, with a wooden window and a dilapidated wooden door. It was already bright outside, and Yan Huai could clearly see that the cement floor was covered with countless layers of blood. The stench of the blood was so strong that it made one almost lose their sense of smell.
Yan Huai realized that he had been lying in this large bloodstain all night, and he instantly felt terrible. The murderous aura he felt almost crushed the piles of firewood and hay in the corner.
How did he end up here? He's not...
The next moment, a look of confusion flashed in Yan Huai's eyes. He raised his hand to his head, wondering to himself, "Not what? What was he just thinking about?"
Hiss—what on earth is going on...?
"Hello, host. I am your auxiliary system. I suggest you do not forcibly recall your past, otherwise it will damage your mental health."
Using the sound as a distraction from his pain, Yan Huai scanned his surroundings blankly: "What?"
“Host, you can communicate with the system directly with your consciousness without speaking,” the system replied patiently. “I am your auxiliary system. Your whereabouts in the original world are defined as missing. You can only return to the original world by completing tasks, solving puzzles, and finding clues to your identity.”
Yan Huai sat there blankly for a while before he could come to his senses: "Where is this?"
"This is a world within a book, located in Dongyi. Furthermore, with the system's support, your body is able to withstand the reshaping of bloodline fusion, so the system automatically fused it for you last night, and the bloodline is named Azure Dragon."
"Then do you know who I am?"
"Host's intention detected, opening the host information panel for the host—"

Yan Huai's gaze fell on his left wrist as he read the last part of the book. There was a string of black Buddhist prayer beads on his wrist. But before he could ask any more questions, he heard approaching footsteps outside. It must have been the old man who had been coughing earlier.
Inside the earthen house, Yan Huai heard the man muttering to himself as he walked: "Ah, what a pity. This child's flesh is good, but he's dead. He won't last long. We have to eat him before he rots."
Yan Huai was stunned for a moment, and then a murderous intent suddenly rose in his eyes. This old man eats human flesh!
Just as Yan Huai stood up to make a move, the system suddenly spoke up to stop him: "Host, you cannot kill him now, otherwise it will change the plot of the book, affect the main characters, and you will also suffer unnecessary harm. The system suggests that you use teleportation to reach his inevitable path and then make your move after his plot ends."
As soon as he finished speaking, Yan Huai seemed not to have heard him. He was single-mindedly focused on killing the old man outside. Just as he took a step, a stream of light flashed from the Buddhist beads on his left wrist, running along the veins on his left arm straight to his heart. A chill instantly spread, suppressing all of Yan Huai's murderous intent.
"Host!"
The system's call brought Yan Huai back to his senses. He blinked in confusion and then said, "Teleport."
"Roger that!"
The wooden door of the mud house was already half open. Yan Huai stared intently at the doorway, and just before the old man outside looked up, he vanished...
In the distance, a gravel road stands out starkly against the lush green shrubs of the mountains. An old man in coarse cloth, wearing a straw hat, drives an oxcart. Five neatly dressed men sit on the oxcart, their luggage taking up more than a third of the cart.
Upon reaching a large open space, the old man stopped the oxcart, walked a few steps forward, and shouted towards the distant lake, "Donkey testicles!"
The five people on the oxcart got off and saw a large black dog swimming ashore from the lake, with a rope tied to a large wooden basin in its mouth.
Among the five, a handsome, slender young man quipped, "Hey? This dog can swim!"
The old man driving the oxcart chuckled憨憨地: "Of course, you swam very well!"
A middle-aged man standing next to the young man, his expression unreadable, said, "Old man, are you sure we're not going to ride this dog for the next leg of the journey? It looks like we're in for a tough time!"
The old man laughed again, waved his hand, and pointed to the ferry not far away: "Look! That's our boatman. The dog belongs to him. There's nothing on the next stretch of the river; you have to take a boat!"
Following the direction the old man pointed, the group of five looked over and noticed a figure with a very low profile on the ferry. As if sensing their gaze, the figure slowly raised its head, revealing a pale, grayish face.
The crowd fell silent for a moment. The middle-aged man who had spoken earlier turned his head and exchanged a glance with the scarred man behind him. They both saw the wariness in each other's eyes. Only the hooded young man standing behind everyone else had a calm expression, as if he didn't care.
"Do we really have to take a boat? I think this road leads through the mountains, we can get there!"
A rough question brought everyone back to their senses. The speaker had an exaggeratedly muscular physique and was at least 1.9 meters tall.
"This road does indeed lead to the other side of the mountain, but it's a long, winding road that will take two or three days! It's much faster to take the waterway!" the old man driving the ox replied as he tidied up the oxcart, looking as if he were doing this for their own good.
"Third Master, what do you think?" The scarred man leaned closer to the middle-aged man and asked in a low voice.
“The mountain road is too winding, and the longer it takes, the more variables there will be. Let’s take the waterway!” After a moment’s thought, the middle-aged man, Wu Sanlue, made the decision. “I’ll go and tell Wu Xie that you and Da Kui should keep an eye on this old man and the boatman.”
"Yes!" the scarred man replied, then turned and informed the burly man as instructed by Wu Sansheng.
"Wu Xie!" Wu Sansheng called out to the young man who was staring intently at the big black dog. The young man turned around and walked over.
"Third uncle, what's wrong?"
Looking into Wu Xie's clear, questioning eyes, Wu Sansheng felt a headache coming on. He simply gave up on explaining and barked at the big black dog frolicking next to the boatman: "Donkey's testicles!"
Upon hearing the shout, the big black dog ignored the boatman's surprised expression, turned around and ran towards Wu Sansheng, wagging its tail and panting with its tongue lolling out at his feet.
Wu Sansheng reached out and stroked the dog's head, then casually sniffed it. He smelled the deathly scent on the dog, which confirmed his earlier judgment. He then called to Wu Xie, who was still smiling and completely unaware, "Come here and smell this dog."
"Smelling a dog?! Tsk tsk tsk, Third Uncle, you're such a pervert."
"You brat! You want a beating?!" Wu Sansheng's eyes blazed with anger. He stood up and slapped Wu Xie on the head, growling, "Hurry up! This dog smells off. Be careful of that old man and that boatman, you hear me?!"
"Okay, okay, what could this dog possibly smell like..." Wu Xie muttered under his breath, rubbing his head. But he still squatted down and sniffed the dog. To his surprise, the smell almost made him vomit. "Holy crap! How many years has this dog been without a bath? It stinks so badly!"
