Chapter 32 The Budding Jealousy
Chapter 32 The Budding Jealousy
"Yan Huai?"
Zhang Qiling?
Yan Huai looked up, his eyes were no longer red, and the grievance on his face had disappeared. He smiled, took off his black glasses, and walked into the courtyard.
Zhang Qiling unconsciously softened his expression and handed the branding knife in his hand forward: "Your knife."
Yan Huai naturally reached out and took it. The familiar touch of the branding knife that he felt in his palm again told him that this was his knife, and Zhang Qiling had not lied to him.
"Thank you!"
This scene completely stunned Black Glasses, who was still standing at the gate. He wiped his mouth and said, "Frog Fun..." I'm the one who got tricked!?
Yan Huai heard the noise from the black-eyed man. He narrowed his eyes, then suddenly looked up at Zhang Qiling and winked his left eye. Immediately, the smile on his face disappeared.
"This isn't my original knife!"
Zhang Qiling was stunned for a moment, but when he caught sight of Black Glasses standing to the side watching the show, he immediately understood Yan Huai's meaning. He smiled slightly and pointed at Black Glasses: "He sold it."
"Damn it, you mute, don't you have any conscience saying that?!" Black Glasses never expected to slip up like that while eating melon seeds, his roguish smile instantly froze. "This Blackie, I wouldn't even let you touch this knife if you wanted to, how would I have the chance to sell it!?"
Zhang Qiling ignored the man in black glasses and sat down on the stone bench in the courtyard, pouring himself a cup of tea.
Seeing this, Yan Huai couldn't help but laugh, so he quickly pretended to bare his teeth and show a fierce expression: "Heh! Judging from what you're saying, if you have the chance, you'll still sell yourself, right!"
"No, no, no! You misheard me. What I meant was, I won't touch or sell your knife. I'm not familiar with this knife!" Black Glasses shook his head like a rattle drum, waving his hands like fans.
But since the act was already over, Yan Huai wasn't going to let this black bear off so easily: "This time I don't believe your nonsense! With all this talk about channels and middlemen fees, if you didn't sell my knife, who else could it be?"
Black Glasses sensed a murderous aura emanating from Yan Huai's casual clapping while holding the scabbard, so he took a step back slightly. He had witnessed the boy's fighting prowess before; even a mute might not be able to defeat him, so there was no way he could beat him in broad daylight.
"Xiao Huai... I swear to God! I really didn't touch your knife. If I were to sell it, I would do it silently. I would never do such a thing!"
"Really?" Yan Huai tilted his head, glanced at Zhang Qiling sitting not far away, then turned his gaze back, revealing two rows of big white teeth in a smile. "Since we don't know if it's been sold or if it's real, let's try and find out!"
"How are you going to try it?" Black Glasses had a bad feeling.
Then......
"Ah—Yan Xiaohuai! Don't kick me!"
"Ancestor! No, no, no slapping my face!"
"You mute—you're just going to watch?!"
Zhang Qiling ignored it and calmly continued drinking his tea until Yan Huai kicked the black-eyed man at the stone table in front of him. Only then did he quickly pick up the tea set on the table and stand up to avoid the tragedy of the tea getting cold.
Zhang Qiling bought the tea set; it was expensive, and he wouldn't ask Yan Huai for compensation. As for Black Glasses... trying to get a hair out of that guy was even more impossible! Zhang Qiling was used to it, and now that this guy had been taught a lesson by Yan Huai, so be it!
"See if you dare lie to me again!"
Yan Huai coldly drew his knife, pinning one end of the blade to Black Glasses' right cheek, while the scabbard in his other hand was pinned to Black Glasses' left cheek. In the blink of an eye, Yan Huai's entire upper body was pressed against Black Glasses' back.
Upon seeing this, Zhang Qiling's expression changed slightly, and the hand holding the teacup tightened inexplicably.
"Do you still want a middleman fee? Do you still dare to try and sell me my knife?"
Yan Huai's attention was focused on teaching Black Eyes a lesson, so he didn't notice Zhang Qiling's suddenly cold expression.
"No more! I won't do it again!" Black Glasses cried out inwardly, his poor back aching! What a mess this was!
"Xiao Huai, oh no, big brother? No, sir! The blind man will never dare to lie to you again, and he will never dare to covet your knife again. Please, have mercy!"
Yan Huai scoffed. His anger had subsided considerably. He straightened up, sheathed the Branding Blade, and with a flick of the back of the sheath, knocked Black Glasses aside.
Zhang Qiling glanced at the spot on the buttock where Black Glasses had been slapped, then at Yan Huai who had sat down on his own, and thought to himself, maybe we should just break this teacup!
wow-
The sound of the tea set being thrown onto the stone table startled Yan Huai. He turned his head and saw that Zhang Qiling seemed to be... angry?
Yan Huai shrank back, and, not understanding why, shoved the branding knife and his hands under the stone table, like a primary school student being invited for tea by the headmaster.
Zhang Qiling caught a glimpse of Yan Huai's cautious demeanor and sighed inwardly. He didn't know why he suddenly had such emotions, but this feeling of loss was most intense when he couldn't remember the past.
But now... perhaps Yan Huai's previous kindness, or rather, Yan Huai himself, is somewhat special, giving Zhang Qiling a strange feeling.
After thinking it over, Zhang Qiling reluctantly picked up a teacup and placed it in front of Yan Huai. He poured tea into it and looked at Yan Huai as if to say: Drink water.
Yan Huai glanced at Zhang Qiling's expression and, seeing that he seemed less angry, leaned the branding knife against the stone bench, tentatively picked up the teacup, and said thank you.
Meanwhile, the man with black glasses, rubbing his chin and massaging his back, seemed to have noticed something. He glanced back and forth between the two with a mischievous grin, then cleared his throat and said to Yan Huai, "Yan Huai? Well, we've become friends through this fight. Calm down. How about I call you Xiao Huai from now on?"
"Suit yourself." Yan Huai waved his hand, still feeling guilty! It was probably this whole commotion with Black Eyes that annoyed Zhang Qiling. After all, he was on Black Eyes' turf, and daring to hit someone so brazenly—no wonder Black Eyes was angry…
The man in black glasses smiled more broadly, as if he hadn't been the one who got beaten up earlier: "Xiao Huai! Now that you've taken the knife, what are you planning to do next?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the man with the dark eyes gave Zhang Qiling a subtle gesture: "Dumb guy, the blind man asked for you, so you have to make the most of it!"
A hint of doubt flashed in Zhang Qiling's eyes as he looked at the man in black glasses: What are you trying to grasp?
However, before Zhang Qiling could get a reply from Black Glasses, he heard Yan Huai say, "I'm going to Hainan."
"Hainan? What are you going there for?"
Even Black Glasses was puzzled.
Yan Huai smiled and didn't say much: "Someone said they would give me a generous reward and compensation, so I'm going to express my gratitude."
I see, someone has offended this kid!
Zhang Qiling and Black Glasses exchanged a glance and silently ended the topic. They had offended quite a few people by taking money, but those were all transactions of interest. They didn't want to get involved in personal grudges like this, so they just kept it in mind.
"I was wondering why it's been so lively outside my little courtyard lately! Turns out they know you're coming back to get the knife from the mute, so they're keeping an eye on you!"
Yan Huai immediately understood what Black Glasses meant. He pursed his lips and said to the two people by the stone table, "Sorry, I'll clean it up before I leave."
"Don't be so formal, we're all acquaintances!" Black Glasses glanced meaningfully at Yan Huai and Zhang Qiling, but then changed the subject, "But—those few lazy bums seem to be just waiting for you, they haven't made any other moves, and we don't know what their real purpose is, so you should be careful~"
"I know, it's okay." Yan Huai didn't say anything more. This was his own business, and he could handle it.
