Tomb raiding: Today is another day I don't want to go home.

Chapter 78 Clan Chief's Seal

Chapter 78 Clan Chief's Seal

"A remnant of the Azure Dragon's soul was detected. Through the host's perception, the soul's identity was confirmed to be the host's father, Yan Zhe, who died 13,889 years ago."

In his mind, Yan Huai was shut out of the system's broadcasts. He only heard a voice that was so familiar to his very bones calling him Ah Huai in different scenes and in different tones.

"Hmm?" Yan Huai looked at Yan Zhe, his vertical pupils clouded with a layer of black mist. He responded dryly, a familiar figure suddenly appearing in his blank past, but the disjointed memories still left him bewildered. "How could this be... what happened?"

"Ah Huai..." Yan Zhe's voice gradually faded into the distance. His gaze towards Yan Huai was filled with longing and heartache, but he was already content.

The only regret is that once this lingering obsession is resolved, Yan Huai will truly be all alone. What will he do then...?

"Ah Huai," tears mingled with blood dripped down, the dragon figure in his arms gradually dissipated, Yan Huai frantically tightened his embrace, but left nothing behind, "Your mother is also waiting for you..."

It feels like a piece of my heart is missing; it doesn't hurt, but it feels like something has been taken away.

Yan Huai looked at his empty embrace and felt no particularly strong emotions. In fact, he felt that his current emotions were not as strong as the slight contraction in his heart when Zhang Qiling cut his palm.

But it seems... different.

Mother?

The system silently observed Yan Huai's lifeless and sluggish expression, and sighed almost imperceptibly. It was truly a sinner...

"Host... Shall we go?"

"Huh? Oh," Yan Huai swallowed to clear the dryness in his throat. He stretched out his body and left the spot where Yan Zhe had disappeared, thinking that he could drift anywhere. "I'm off!"

The screech in his ears became more and more frequent. Yan Huai would turn his head to look every time he heard it, but he never saw a shadow like Yan Zhe again in the corresponding direction. The sound was not an illusion, and neither was Yan Zhe. Yan Huai was very sure of it.

But when they arrived at a certain place, Yan Huai lingered there for a long time. His gaze swept towards the dark abyss within the Death Gate, where a faint bluish-black glow pierced through layers of iron chains.

As Yan Huai spiraled downwards, he adjusted his angle, and then, from the location of a broken iron chain, he managed to make out the entire character "封" (seal) below.

The word floated on the twisted and entangled iron chains, as if it were a space of its own.

As Yan Huai approached, he sensed a familiar aura, very similar to that of Yan Zhe: "System, what is this?"

"Host, this is the clan leader's seal. If you can decipher it, the Yan family's encirclement will fall into place without you having to attack. However, you will no longer know the situation in the other sects."

Yan Huai was stunned as he processed the information conveyed by the system's words—there should be something about him in the other doors, perhaps his identity memories, or perhaps the mother Yan Huai mentioned before he disappeared.

This clan leader's seal is called a "seal," and inside it are either rare treasures or heinous crimes. If you break the seal, it's equivalent to giving up the possibilities that lie ahead.

Similarly, if Yan Huai doesn't break the seal and chooses to leave and enter another gate, then no matter what he encounters later, he will never have the chance to return to the place where the clan leader's seal is located.

The system looked at Yan Huai, who was deep in thought, and thought that its host would struggle for a while longer. But to its surprise, Yan Huai turned around and left the next moment.

"Host, aren't you afraid that your father will hide your mother inside the clan chief's seal?"

"He won't." Yan Huai's tone was very certain. Even if it contained all his past memories and the answers he wanted, it wouldn't be about his mother.

For no apparent reason, Yan Huai simply believed it. If there had to be an explanation... it would be that he would not, and absolutely could not, treat Zhang Qiling that way, so Yan Zhe would not do the same.

The system understood Yan Huai's inner thoughts and for the first time felt strange emotions beyond the data. It seemed that the mission, the mystery, the identity... all of these were not its whole story.
