Chapter 57 Fever
Chapter 57 Fever
Chapter Fever
A veil of sadness hung over the room.
"The young master told me not to tell you," the butler said hesitantly, "because he was afraid you would worry if you knew."
Li Yan smiled sadly, tears still falling, and could only see her son's blurry face.
My darling is so sensible, it breaks my heart.
An hour later, Gu Tingyan woke up and found his mother sitting by his bedside watching him.
Her eyes were red from crying.
But when she saw him wake up, his mother excitedly helped him up: "Ayan, I specially made porridge for you. Are you hungry now?"
Gu Tingyan knew that his sudden fainting had given his mother quite a fright.
"Mmm." He nodded obediently.
The housekeeper immediately went to serve the porridge.
Li Yan took the porridge from the housekeeper. Gu Tingyan wanted to do it himself, but his mother refused.
“You are a patient now,” Li Yan said righteously.
Gu Tingyan had no choice but to withdraw his hand. He watched as his mother, just like when he was a child, used a spoon to scoop up a little bit of porridge, tested the temperature on the back of her fair hand, and only fed him spoonful by spoonful after confirming that it was okay.
Li Yan now treats her son like a fragile doll.
After many years, Gu Tingyan dreamed of scenes from his childhood again, and his eyes welled up with tears.
Gu Tingyan had just finished eating his porridge when Li Yan noticed that her son's face was unusually red. She subconsciously raised her hand and placed it on his forehead: "Why is it so hot?"
Li Yan got up again to get the thermometer and fever reducer, but when she came back, she found that her son had fainted.
A quick check with a thermometer revealed a high fever. Li Yan hurriedly went to find hot water, dissolved the fever reducer, and fed it to her son.
The housekeeper watched Li Yan's movements and wanted to help, but he was not as fast as Li Yan.
Having done everything, she looked at her unconscious son, whose lips were moving, mumbling something indistinctly.
Li Yan quickly moved closer and listened carefully: "Mom... I want to hear a story..."
Li Yan felt a pang of sorrow in her heart and immediately turned to go to the study, where she found the fairy tale books she used to tell stories to her children when she was a child.
When she finally found it, she touched the yellowed pages in a daze, never expecting it to be so well preserved until now.
Back in Gu Tingyan's room, she opened a storybook, sat down by her son's bed, and gently began to tell him a story.
"A long, long time ago, there was a little girl named Little Red Riding Hood..."
......
The next day.
As soon as Gu Tingyan opened his eyes, he felt his hand being held tightly.
He turned his head and saw that his mother was asleep in front of his bed, with the storybooks he loved to listen to when he was a child on her lap.
Warm currents flowed through his wounded heart.
But when he thought about how his mother was not only worried about him but also running around trying to help him, a look of heartache crept into his eyes.
Gu Tingyan's movements woke Li Yan up.
Seeing her son return to normal, Li Yan's eyes lit up with joy: "Ayan, you're finally awake!"
Gu Tingyan urged Li Yan to go and rest.
"Okay, Mom, thank you for your hard work. I'm fine now. You should go back to your room and rest."
Li Yan was indeed exhausted, so she nodded and didn't refuse.
Outside the door, Xu Rou had just returned from the hospital and was standing at the door of Gu Tingyan's room.
While she hesitated whether to call Gu Tingyan, Li Yan had already reached out and grasped the doorknob.
"Click——"
Xu Rou's heart tightened, hoping that Gu Tingyan would appear.
The next second, however, she saw Li Yan.
Xu Rou was dumbfounded.
