Chapter 91 The Magic Mirror's "Accomplices"
Chapter 91 The Magic Mirror's "Accomplices"
After Qiao Xiao finished talking with the witch Anna, they walked out of the main hall together.
Just then, a soldier rushed over, his face filled with anxiety, and said to Qiao Xiao, "Your Majesty, something terrible has happened! Those rioters have suddenly started attacking the palace again, and this time they've intensified their attack. The city gates are about to be breached!"
Upon hearing this news, Qiao Xiao's face instantly darkened. She demanded, "What? How could this happen?"
"What kind of development is this?" she cursed inwardly.
She searched everywhere for Schubert and asked anxiously, "Where has the prince gone?"
The soldier replied, "The prince and the dwarves have gone to the city gate to prepare to defend against the mob's attack."
Qiao Xiao and the witch Anna both frowned.
The witch Anna spoke up, "Your Majesty, please do not worry about Spartz's safety. I will go to help him now and ensure the safety of the palace."
Qiao Xiao sounded a little anxious as she urged, "Aunt Anna, you must protect him!"
Snow White must not die!
She has other things to take care of.
Anna the Witch: "Rest assured, Your Majesty, I will do everything in my power to protect him."
After bowing to Qiao Xiao, she left.
Watching Anna the Witch's departing figure, the worry on Qiao Xiao's face vanished instantly, replaced by a cold expression, as if she had become a different person.
She calmly lifted her heavy skirt and walked steadily toward Schubert's bedroom.
Upon entering the bedchamber, Qiao Xiao headed straight for the mysterious dark room.
She approached the dark room without a word, her eyes revealing a resolute determination.
In the dark room, Qiao Xiao faced a huge mirror.
She stood quietly in front of the mirror and called out, "Magic mirror, magic mirror."
His voice was cold and devoid of any emotion, as if he were simply completing a task.
The magic mirror slowly awoke, its voice tinged with surprise: "Your Majesty, what brings you here? There's a riot going on outside; you should be out there calming your people."
Qiao Xiao was not moved by the magic mirror's words. She clapped her hands perfunctorily and said, "You really are an all-powerful and all-knowing magic mirror. You actually know everything that has happened these past few days."
The Magic Mirror seemed oblivious to the chill in Qiao Xiao's words, and replied smugly, "Of course, Your Majesty. I am an all-knowing being."
Qiao Xiao raised an eyebrow slightly, a half-smile playing on her lips, and said in a gentle yet authoritative tone, "Then, Magic Mirror, let me ask you a question."
The magic mirror replied, "You know I need a drop of water from your bottle."
A sly smile appeared on Qiao Xiao's face, and she replied with a firm and confident look in her eyes: "I already have an answer to the question I asked. If you can answer it the same way I did, I will give you a drop."
As she spoke, she slowly took out the red bottle of blood from her bosom and displayed it in front of the magic mirror.
Qiao Xiao took a deep breath, her gaze sharp as a knife, staring intently at the magic mirror, and asked, word by word, "Then my question is—who are your accomplices?"
The magic mirror retorted loudly, "I have no accomplices, Your Majesty! You are slandering me!"
Qiao Xiao shook her head, sighed softly, and said, "No, this is not the answer I want."
The magic mirror grew increasingly anxious and shouted emotionally, "There's no answer at all! Asking is pointless!"
Qiao Xiao's originally clear and bright eyes instantly turned extremely cold, as if covered by a layer of frost, revealing endless indifference and determination.
Qiao Xiao: "You have no accomplices. It is your master, so you can only obediently do as you say. Your master is the cat that is lurking beside me—Marigold."
Just then, the tightly closed door slowly opened, making a creaking sound, as if it were an invitation from hell.
Along with the cold wind came a sharp, piercing laugh, like the hooting of an owl, which instilled fear in everyone.
Qiao Xiao stood there, looking into the darkness outside the door, her expression unchanged, only a faint smile appeared on her lips.
Her gaze was calm and still, as if she had long anticipated this moment.
"You're really amazing; you actually guessed who I am."
A sarcastic laugh came from the darkness outside the door.
Qiao Xiao scoffed and said with a light laugh, "Mariegold, this name doesn't suit you."
Then, the figure slowly emerged from the darkness and appeared in front of Qiao Xiao.
It really is Marigold, that orange cat.
"Oh? Why do you say that?" Its voice carried a hint of provocation and curiosity.
Qiao Xiao smiled slightly, a sharp glint in her eyes, "Because you are not Mary Gerd."
"Hehehe..." it chuckled softly, a chill running through it.
It extended its tongue and gently licked its sharp claws, a dangerous glint in its eyes. "So, what do you think my real name is?"
Qiao Xiao met its gaze without fear. "Marigold, that's not a pleasant name. I guess you should have a more suitable title, like the Paladin Glenn or the regicide and empress murderer?"
The cat's eyes narrowed sharply, revealing boundless killing intent.
It stared intently at Qiao Xiao, gritting its teeth as it said, "How could you have known all this? How is that possible?"
Qiao Xiao shrugged and smiled easily, "You'll know once you read more books."
Suddenly, a cloud of black mist appeared around Marigold, surrounding her layer by layer. Soon, the black mist dissipated, and the figure inside gradually became visible.
A woman in her thirties appeared from the middle of the black mist. She had a beautiful face, bright and sharp eyes, and wore a pale yellow dress with silver thread embroidered on the hem.
Qiao Xiao's expression changed slightly when she saw this woman: "You're a woman?"
She had originally thought that Paladin Glenn would be a man, but she was surprised to find that he was a woman.
Marigold smiled and said, "What, are you saying a knight can't be a woman? Aren't you a woman too?"
As she spoke, she gently lifted her beloved hair, then took a step forward, her eyes fixed intently on Qiao Xiao.
“You are truly intelligent, Your Majesty, and I am truly envious of everything about you.” Marygel’s voice was low and tinged with a hint of sarcasm.
Qiao Xiao looked at her, a sense of unease rising within her. She realized that this woman might be more dangerous than she had imagined.
Marigold continued, "You were born so well, it's a pity you weren't poisoned outright."
Upon hearing this, Qiao Xiao frowned: "What kind of medicine did you have Daisy send me?"
Marigold's lips curled up slightly, revealing a smug smile: "A poison that can make you lose your beauty and turn you into an old woman."
Qiao Xiao's eyes lit up, and she was secretly delighted: This is exactly what I need.
Qiao Xiao replied expressionlessly, "Why would I do that?"
Glenn's face contorted in agony. "Why? Because you beautiful women always seduce men like that! Queen Amber seduced the King just like that!"
Qiao Xiao finally understood the truth of what happened back then.
