Chapter 18 Understanding One's Intentions
Chapter 18 Understanding One's Intentions
Deep in the forest, the four sat with their backs against a large tree, the images from just moments ago replaying in their minds.
With a single move, Mo Chen's cousin killed the two-headed fire python. His speed was so great that they didn't even have time to see how he made his move.
Just as they were rendered unable to move and were about to be struck by the two-headed fire python, a flash of white light suddenly appeared, and the two-headed fire python crashed to the ground.
"Speechless" is not enough to describe their shock. They stared blankly as Mo Ze retrieved his mecha and turned back to Lin Shushu's side.
They were only brought back to reality when Mo Ze walked up to them and handed Mo Chen a jade bottle.
When they came to their senses, the aches and pains all over their bodies made them gasp. They had been so shocked that they had ignored the pain in their bodies.
"One for each of you, keep the rest for yourself." After saying that, Mo Ze walked back.
Mo Chen took the jade bottle, poured out four pills, gave one to each of the other three, and held the remaining one in his hand, examining it closely.
Upon closer inspection, he was shocked once again. This… wasn't this the very same pill sold at the recently popular pill shops?
He looked at the others, whose eyes were also filled with surprise. Faced with his questioning gaze, they all nodded in unison.
In preparation for this training exercise, they searched everywhere for protective equipment, including the recently popular elixirs. Unfortunately, they couldn't manage to procure any.
Before they set off, they waited at the shop for three days, but the shopkeeper just wouldn't put the items on the shelves, much to their disappointment.
Now, the pure white pill lay in their palms, its delicate fragrance filling their nostrils—it was so real it couldn't be more astonishing.
After exchanging glances, the group almost simultaneously put the pills into their mouths, carefully experiencing the legendary changes.
Sure enough, as soon as the pill entered their mouths, a warm current spread throughout their bodies, making them feel comfortable and the soreness from before had disappeared.
Even Tang Yucheng, who had been struck in the chest by the tail of the two-headed fire python, found his breathing became smoother and his pale complexion returned to normal.
They looked at each other, and the other three rushed towards Mo Chen together, their eagerness disregarding any brotherhood.
Mo Chen was even more clever than them; with a flick of his wrist, he had already stored the jade bottle in his spatial storage.
The three of them missed their target and sat back down in the distance, their eyes constantly glancing at Mo Ze and Lin Shushu.
Mo Ze noticed the subtle exchange, but he ignored it.
Giving a bottle of medicine is a small matter, but now that Shushu doesn't want to reveal that the pills came from her, he can't let people suspect her.
After all, pills are sold in limited quantities now. If someone can just casually pull out a few bottles, wouldn't that be blatantly telling others that they have an unusual relationship with the pill shop?
After they had rested, the group continued on their way. Fortunately, they did not encounter any more high-level beasts along the way, and the four of them could handle the level two and three beasts without any help.
After walking for half a day, the group finally arrived at a place where Frost Grass grew. The four of them were overjoyed, as no one else came to steal it this time. They carefully dug out the Frost Grass.
Seeing that it wasn't too late, Mo Ze consulted the four of them and they decided to stay in the forest to continue their training. Mo Ze agreed to their request. Anyway, with him and Shu Shu there, safety wasn't an issue.
In fact, the Sunset Forest is fraught with danger at night, and most people would not dare to stay overnight.
In the past, the four of them wouldn't have dared to do that, but the situation is different now. After a day of training, they have made great progress and gained more confidence in themselves.
Most importantly, with Mo Chen's cousin around, they felt very safe.
They chose a spacious, sheltered spot and settled in.
The four of them diligently set up a tent for Mo Ze and Lin Shushu, and even brought out what they thought was delicious juice for the two of them.
Mo Ze refused their juice, told them to gather firewood, and then got up and went into the woods.
Mo Chen looked at his cousin's back, then at Lin Shushu, and thought to himself, why did his cousin send them all to collect firewood? Wasn't that leaving Sister Shushu all alone?
Seeing his thoughts, Lin Shushu smiled and said, "You guys go ahead, I can manage on my own."
"Really? Aren't you scared? Maybe I should stay here?" Mo Chen asked uncertainly. The other three nodded, indicating that they would go and collect firewood.
It's no wonder they thought Lin Shushu was a helpless girl. After all, she hadn't done anything along the way, so they assumed she needed protection.
Lin Shushu nodded, indicating that she really didn't need anyone to accompany her. Only then did they leave hesitantly, still thinking as they left, "Since that's the case, let's try to come back as soon as possible."
After the others left, Lin Shushu took out a set of eight-seater table and chairs from her spatial storage. After thinking for a moment, she also took out a basket of various spiritual fruits.
Since the spirit fruit has already been shown to the Mo family, it won't be too conspicuous for her to take it out herself. They will definitely think that it was given to her by Mo Ze.
After getting ready, Lin Shushu sat down and carefully observed her surroundings. It was already evening, and the sky was even darker. The surroundings were hazy and gave people an extremely oppressive feeling, as if they were about to be swallowed up.
However, Lin Shushu felt no pressure at all; she just suddenly felt a little lonely.
It seems I've really gotten used to Moze's company. I felt lonely as soon as he left. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
If Mo Ze knew about her dilemma, he would be very happy, realizing that his existence had such a great influence on her.
Unfortunately, he had no way of knowing any of this, as he was currently carrying his prey back home.
When Mo Ze returned to the encampment, Mo Chen and the others also returned. The group busied themselves, some setting up scaffolding, others starting fires.
Mo Ze brought the prepared prey to Lin Shushu, who then gently ran her hand over it, seemingly just to see what Mo Ze had hunted.
The four who witnessed this scene also thought that Mo Ze was possessed by a peacock and was showing off his strength in front of his sweetheart.
Yes, as they walked along, the group had already discerned Mo Ze's feelings for Lin Shushu. Seeing their natural yet intimate interactions, they had tacitly accepted their relationship.
Little did they know, they were wrong. The two were still in a completely innocent relationship; at least, the unspoken understanding between them had not yet been revealed.
Lin Shushu was aware of Mo Ze's feelings for her, but since they hadn't spent much time together, she wasn't sure if she felt the same way about him.
However, the time they spent alone together made her realize how much Mo Ze meant to her.
Lin Shushu glanced at Mo Ze, who was intently grilling meat, her face flushing, and she turned her head away shyly. He truly was her ideal type, and they were very comfortable together. Perhaps she should give him a chance, and herself a chance too.
With this in mind, Lin Shushu made a decision.
Mo Ze, who was grilling meat for Lin Shushu, was completely unaware that a surprise was waiting for him.
