Chapter 82 Aftermath
Chapter 82 Aftermath
Lin Zihao was awakened by urgent knocking on the door in the morning.
Yesterday, he was anxious and worried for half the day because of his sister's condition. After finally calming her down a bit, he busied himself contacting therapists at various hospitals to consult with them and ask them to come and treat his sister.
He was so busy that he was completely overwhelmed by the evening, so he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow and was only woken up by the knocking on the door.
"What exactly happened?" Lin Zihao asked with a gloomy face as he opened the door.
Outside the door stood Lin Lei, the Lin family's manager in this mining area, who looked terrified and uneasy.
Lin Lei received a message from the mining area in the morning saying that the amethyst ore stored there had disappeared. At first, he thought his subordinates were playing a joke on him and even scolded them a few times.
But the person on the other end of the line was crying, and the fear in their voice didn't seem fake. He panicked immediately and rushed to the mining area without even washing up.
Looking at the empty storage room, he was dumbfounded. Only one thought crossed his mind: "We're doomed!"
Even though he was panicking, he forced himself to calm down and carefully reviewed last night's surveillance footage, not missing a single second. As expected, he found nothing.
Even though he was terrified after what happened, Lin Lei didn't dare to hide it. He immediately tried to contact Lin Zihao, but Lin Zihao was fast asleep and didn't hear him at all. Left with no other option, Lin Lei went to the hotel to apologize.
Seeing Lin Lei trembling, Lin Zihao's already unpleasant mood became even more irritable. He shouted impatiently, "What is it that you have to come so early in the morning?"
"Young Master...last...last night..." Too frightened, Lin Lei couldn't explain the situation clearly even after trying for a long time.
Lin Zihao's face was as black as ink, and his eyes flashed with anger. "If you can't speak properly, then get out!" After saying that, he walked into the room.
Lin Lei shuddered, then composed himself. He knew he was going to die sooner or later anyway, so he decided to go all out. "Young Master, the amethyst mine... the amethyst mine is all gone."
After saying that, Lin Lei closed his eyes, waiting to face Lin Zihao's wrath.
Lin Zihao paused in his steps, turned around to look at Lin Lei, who had a look of grim determination on his face, and asked, "Explain yourself, what do you mean by the amethyst mine being gone?"
Upon hearing Lin Lei's words, Lin Zihao's first thought was the same as his: that he had misheard. But seeing Lin Lei's anxious and uneasy appearance, Lin Zihao had a bad feeling.
Once the words were out, things went much more smoothly, and Lin Lei explained the matter in detail.
Lin Zihao had the same reaction after hearing this. He loudly questioned, "Where are the surveillance cameras? Didn't they capture how the ore disappeared?"
"We've checked all the surveillance footage, and there's nothing unusual. The cameras themselves are also working perfectly," Lin Lei explained, forcing a smile.
"Where are the guards? What are they doing? Someone went into the mining area and took away all the ore, and they didn't even notice?" Lin Zihao's anger was about to get out of control.
“They’ve all been interrogated, and they didn’t find anything amiss. The surveillance footage also confirms that they weren’t lying; they’ve been patrolling the whole time and haven’t neglected their duties.” Faced with Lin Zihao’s anger, Lin Lei, though afraid, had no choice but to report everything he had found.
Lin Zihao tried hard to control his emotions, grabbed a coat and put it on, then quickly walked out of the room. Lin Lei saw this and hurriedly followed after him.
When the two arrived at the Lin family mining area in their aircraft, it was already packed with people.
In just one morning, news of the Lin family's ore disappearing had spread throughout the entire mining area, and various forces sent people to investigate the situation.
Whether it was genuine concern or just a desire to stir up trouble, people from various factions rushed forward to comfort Lin Zihao upon his appearance.
"Young Master Lin, have you found out who stole it?"
"I heard you've lost everything you've gained recently. Oh dear, that's really unfortunate!"
"Zihao, you must let us know if you have any news! We're all worried about you!"
……
Listening to the sarcastic remarks, Lin Zihao coldly looked at the people in front of him, "You guys should go back and guard your own mines. Who knows, one of you or all of you might be the next to have your mines stolen!"
After saying this, Lin Zihao ignored everyone's reactions and walked into the mine tunnel towards the storage room, leaving a group of people looking at each other in bewilderment.
Everyone then realized that Lin Zihao's words made sense. If the Lin family could have their ore stolen, why couldn't theirs be stolen as well?
Having grasped the key point, the people from various factions abandoned their spectacle and quickly departed.
They need to reconfigure the security system, increase manpower where necessary, and relocate the ore where needed, to avoid repeating the mistakes of the Lin family.
Led by Lin Lei, Lin Zihao quickly arrived at the storage room where the ore was stored.
Looking at the storage room, which was spotless as if it had been washed clean, Lin Zihao's spirits plummeted. Who on earth could steal so much ore under such comprehensive surveillance? And how many people were involved?
What's even stranger is that the thief didn't make a sound at all. How did they manage that?
Lin Zihao looked worried. Was this incident targeting the Lin family, or was the other party just randomly choosing a mining area to steal from?
If it was the former, Lin Zihao felt a chill run down his spine at the thought. The fact that the other party could steal so much ore so silently meant they must have considerable power behind them. Now the enemy was in the shadows, while they were in the open; things were unlikely to stop anytime soon.
Thinking about it this way, Lin Zihao preferred that the incident belonged to the latter category, so that they would still have room for redress.
However, regardless of the circumstances, they will not let anyone who dares to attack the Lin family off easily.
Lin Zihao immediately ordered someone to contact the military stationed on J56 and ask them to help find any suspicious persons who had recently appeared on J56.
At the same time, he reported the matter to his father. Such a big matter was beyond his ability to handle alone; only through the efforts of the entire Lin family could the stolen ore be recovered and the thieves severely punished.
Lin Chenghui, far away on the Imperial Star, received a message from his son and thought happily that there must be more good news. After all, he had received news from people there a few days ago that the reserves in the mining area were very large and that they had already made some progress.
My son called just three days after he left, so there might be even better news.
In high spirits, he opened the call request. Before he could even ask anything, Lin Zihao's slightly remorseful voice came from the other end: "Dad, something happened at the mine. All the amethyst ore we were mining is gone overnight."
Lin Chenghui's smile faded, and he asked in a deep voice, "What exactly happened? How could it all disappear overnight? Who did it?"
Lin Zihao then told Lin Chenghui about what had happened in the mining area the previous night, as well as the results of their investigation this morning.
Just when he thought things couldn't get any worse, Lin Zihao dealt him an even bigger blow.
