Chapter 72 Do you want to see the letter, or do you want to see me?
The moment Ji Xingyi touched it, she sensed something was wrong. The paper on the envelope had a unique feel; it was thick, smooth, yet had a slight resilience. Ji Xingyi had never encountered such paper on the market before.
The front only had Jiang Lin's name written on it, without a postmark, indicating that it hadn't gone through the postal service and had been delivered to his door. Turning it over, Ji Xingyi's gaze locked onto the black and gold sealing wax seal.
The overall design of the seal is a six-pointed star, with a circle in the center containing patterns representing the sun and moon.
It looked quite artistic. Ji Xingyi stared at it for a while, lost in thought. It seemed somewhat familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had seen it before.
His fingertips traced the raised lines of the sealing wax stamp, trying to recall a long-forgotten memory. This made him ignore the sound of running water in the bathroom that had stopped sometime earlier, and he didn't even notice Jiang Lin's arrival.
Just as Ji Xingyi felt he was about to grasp the thread in his chaotic thoughts, the white envelope in his hand was suddenly snatched away.
Turning around, she saw Jiang Lin, whose hair was still damp, standing behind her in a white bathrobe.
Feeling guilty for being caught, Ji Xingyi's earlobes flushed slightly. Her eyes darted around as she tried to change the subject: "Why didn't you dry your hair?"
Jiang Lin crossed his arms and looked at the man sitting on the sofa with a strange expression: "Young Master Ji really has no talent for being a thief..."
"Linlin." Ji Xingyi felt a throbbing pain in her temples and honestly admitted her mistake: "I was wrong."
Jiang Lin scoffed, reaching out to pull out Ji Xingyi's chair so the man was facing him. Gazing into those beautiful eyes, he slowly sat down on Ji Xingyi's lap, a playful smile on his face: "Want to see?"
The loose bathrobe became even looser with this movement, and the shape that originally covered the chest turned into a deep V.
Even without looking down, Ji Xingyi could see the transparent dewdrops running down the young man's neck, gradually disappearing into the depths of his fair skin.
Jiang Lin had just finished showering, and there was nothing under his bathrobe. This realization caused Ji Xingyi's legs to stiffen instantly, and he dared not touch the young man in his arms.
Jiang Lin held the white letter between his index and middle fingers and flashed it in front of Ji Xingyi's eyes: "Want to see the letter?"
"Or... do you want to see me?"
These three words caused Ji Xingyi's body temperature to rise rapidly, and the anger in her heart exploded. In order to cover up her loss of composure, she quickly grabbed the handrail.
Jiang Lin continued to trace the sharp corner of the letter across the man's high, straight nose, lingering on his slightly darker lips, her eyes playful: "I'll only give you one chance to choose."
Ji Xingyi's eyes darkened. After suppressing his physical desires, he raised his hand and touched the young man's damp face, making the air feel sticky.
Jiang Lin's lips curled into a barely perceptible smile, but the hand that was pressed against his cheek suddenly withdrew, and he snatched the white envelope from his hand.
Ji Xingyi's unexpected move startled Jiang Lin.
After realizing what was happening, Jiang Lin laughed out loud in anger: "Ha!"
Kind of!
Jiang Lin glanced sideways, pressed on the man's shoulder to get up, and then opened the mysterious letter with her slender fingertips.
From Ji Xingyi's perspective, the envelope obscured the lower half of Jiang Lin's face, but through the letter, the young man's bright eyes were more alluring than the most precious gems in the world.
Ji Xingyi unconsciously swallowed, not only feeling her blood boiling, but also as if every strand of hair on her head was about to burst into flames. Damn it, how come I never realized my darling was so ticklish before!
Inside the mysterious white envelope was a card. The appearance of black numbers on the card brought Ji Xingyi back to his senses from his anxiety.
It wasn't a love letter after all. This answer relieved Ji Xingyi.
However, the next second, Jiang Lin threw the card at his face.
"Now, take your things..." Jiang Lin leaned back on the table, pointed to the door, and smiled, "Get out!"
"boom!"
The slamming door startled Zhang Hui, who was watching TV downstairs. Holding a bag of potato chips, Zhang Hui leaned out and peered upstairs: "Xingyi? Is that you?"
Ji Xingyi, holding the card, was locked outside the door. Her face was ashen, and she gritted her teeth as she replied, "It's nothing."
After Ji Xingyi left, Jiang Lin picked up the white envelope in his hand, his gaze also fixed on the sealing wax stamp. Then he took out a black and gold Zippo lighter from the drawer, lit the envelope, and threw it into the ceramic tray of the candlestick.
Jiang Lin watched the flickering flames until the sealing wax seal completely melted before extinguishing the remaining embers with tea.
That night, Ji Xingyi took several cold showers, but even though he was completely aroused by Jiang Lin, he didn't dare kick the door this time. Jiang Lin had warned him about the door repair incident last time, and now that Jiang Lin was his beloved wife, he should be more mature. So, this directly resulted in him getting into the car early in the morning with a gloomy and tired face.
Jiang Lin's class was in the afternoon today, so she didn't go to school with him. After finishing her morning classes, Ji Xingyi ran into Wang Zhe in the hallway. Considering that Wang Zhe was Jiang Lin's roommate, Ji Xingyi stopped.
After looking left and right to make sure no one else was around, Wang Zhe questioned Ji Xingyi with a serious expression: "How could Xuehui die in the dungeon? What exactly happened in the dungeon?"
After discovering that Jiang Lin had returned from the border crossing last night, Wang Zhe immediately called Jiang Lin, but Jiang Lin said he needed to rest first and brushed him off. Wang Zhe was worried all night, so he couldn't help but come to find Ji Xingyi first.
“They were unlucky. If you want to blame someone else, blame me, not Jiang Lin.” Ji Xingyi replied calmly, then turned and left without looking at Wang Zhe’s reaction.
After a short rest at noon, Ji Xingyi threw herself back into her busy work. Time flew by, and she got into her car wearily at six o'clock in the evening, only to find that the car was not going in the direction home.
"I notified them yesterday that we're going back to the Lin family today!" Zhang Hui quickly explained when he saw the man in the rearview mirror frowning.
Ji Xingyi rubbed his sore temples helplessly and said in a low voice, "Let's go to the Lin family."
An hour later, Zhang Hui drove the car into the Lin family villa, where servants were already waiting outside. Ji Xingyi changed into guest slippers and went into the dining room, where her mother, father, and her younger brother, who was three years younger than her, were already eating.
"Why are you back so late?" Ji's mother looked up at Ji Xingyi and continued to serve soup to her youngest son, Lin Rui'an.
"Traffic jam," Ji Xingyi replied casually, sitting down next to Lin Rui'an and picking up her bowl and chopsticks.
His family was like that; they would call him home for dinner on the first day of each month, but they wouldn't wait for him for even ten minutes longer. In a sense, it wasn't Kiyoshi who was going through the motions, but his parents.
Looking at the table full of dishes that Lin Rui'an loved, Ji Xingyi couldn't help but think of Jiang Lin, wondering what Linlin would eat tonight.
