Chapter 37 Gin's Unique Traits
Chapter 37 Gin's Unique Traits
Amuro Tooru, who was working diligently at the coffee shop, suddenly received a phone call from Gin.
“I have a long-term mission for you. You need to take care of someone’s meals. How about it?” Gin’s tone seemed to carry a hint of mockery.
"What?" Amuro Tooru was stunned. Had he heard correctly? To take care of someone's meals?
Putting aside who that person is, isn't it absurd to have a codename member take care of someone's meals? What does that make him? A nanny?
“You heard me right.” Gin finished speaking and snorted coldly.
"May I ask who this person I'm supposed to take care of is?" Amuro revealed that this mission was Gin's way of humiliating him. Refusing the mission was, of course, impossible, because if an organization member refused to carry out a mission, they would be labeled a traitor.
But to assign this task to a codename member is a gross underestimation of their abilities.
"You'll know once you answer." Gin used Amuro Tooru's usual riddle-solving tactics, confusing Amuro Tooru for a moment before hanging up the phone.
Amuro Tooru was also a little annoyed. Gin actually wanted him to be someone's babysitter? And he had to accept the task whether he wanted to or not. Didn't he understand what Gin meant?
He put down his phone and leaned against the counter in the coffee shop.
For the sake of this country, he had to endure any humiliation, no matter how great.
Amuro Tooru seemed to cheer up a bit. It's just cooking for someone, right? Besides, by taking on this mission, he can find out who this person, whom even Gin said he would take care of, is... and who knows, maybe even an important member of the organization.
……
The incident stemmed from what happened the day before—
Gin stared at the missed calls on his phone with a complicated expression. He had already called Jundo five times, but Jundo hadn't answered.
"Tch, where did that brat die?" Gin muttered, then ordered Vodka to drive to Cointreau's new apartment.
Yesterday, Cointreau moved into the luxury apartment his boss bought for him. So Gin thought he'd go to his apartment to see if he could find Cointreau.
When they arrived at the apartment building, Bai Yexiu finally called Gin back: "Hey, Gin-chan, what's up?"
Bai Yexiu's speech was a little unclear, as if he were brushing his teeth.
"Are you home?" Gin frowned.
“Yes,” Bai Yexiu said casually.
Even though Byakuya had told Gin that he was at home, Gin still stormed in using the spare key card.
Bai Yexiu, who was brushing his teeth in the bathroom, was startled. He opened the bathroom door and looked at the two men in black who had broken in with a reproachful expression: "You've trespassed!"
Gin ignored him and stepped forward to question him: "Why didn't you answer the phone?"
Bai Yexiu spat out the foam from his mouth, rinsed it, and said, "Isn't it obvious? I was just sleeping."
"Were you sleeping just now?" Gin looked suspiciously at a torn bag of frozen dumplings on the stove and an induction cooker with something cooking inside.
Bai Yexiu knew that Gin's paranoia had struck again, so he explained, "Those were dumplings I made after I got up. Do you want some? Sure, let's have some together!" As he spoke, Bai Yexiu went over and took a bowl and spoon, scooped some out of the induction cooker, and prepared to serve Gin a bowl.
"Is this all you eat?" Gin vaguely remembered that the boss had told him before not to let Cointreau always eat frozen food.
"I'm too lazy to cook." Bai Yexiu picked up a bowl of dumplings and handed it to Gin, but Gin declined his offer.
Gin had a premonition that something bad might happen if he ate the dumplings.
But as Gin had predicted, Byakuya Xiu had put a sleeping potion in the dumpling bowl, intending to trick Gin. Unfortunately for him, Gin had no intention of eating the sleeping dumplings.
Gin walked up to the refrigerator door and opened it, only to find—
The refrigerator was unusually empty, containing only frozen dumplings and frozen beef balls.
"Did that gentleman tell you not to eat frozen food all the time?" Gin questioned.
"Ah..." Bai Yexiu scratched his head awkwardly, "I forgot..."
Honestly, he genuinely forgot about it. He bought frozen food mainly because he didn't want to cook.
"Take these away, no more eating." Gin closed the refrigerator door, vaguely feeling as if some special ability was at work.
Bai Yexiu objected, "Seriously? If we take all this away, what am I supposed to eat? Gin, what are you doing meddling in all this?"
Gin turned his head, a hint of ferocity in his eyes: "These are the words of that gentleman."
Bai Yexiu seemed completely fearless: "Father isn't here, and Gin, your meddling will only make you seem idle."
He should have recorded what he just said and sent it to that gentleman. I wish that gentleman heard it and flew over from overseas at the speed of light to break Jundu's legs.
Gin gritted his teeth, meeting Bai Yexiu's provocative gaze.
"I'll find someone to cook for you tomorrow." Gin didn't want to get entangled with Bai Yexiu any longer. He glanced at Bai Yexiu's thin figure and pale, sickly skin, and reluctantly said, "Take care of your own body."
"Oh? Gin-chan, you actually care about people~" Bai Yexiu felt like he had caught Gin's little weakness. That last sentence could be summed up in four caring words: Take care of yourself.
Gin glanced at the subtle expression on Bai Yexiu's face, then left with Vodka.
As Gin walked, he pondered who to send to take care of Jundo's meals. This task involved Jundo's identity and some of the organization's secrets, so naturally, he couldn't send an outsider. The only suitable person for this task was a codenamed member, but assigning someone this kind of babysitting task would easily be misinterpreted as Gin humiliating him.
and many more.
Gin's mind flashed to one person—Bourbon might as well be it.
He had disliked Bourbon for a long time.
Then, in a warning tone, he said to Vodka, "Don't tell anyone about what happened today."
"Understood, brother," Vodka said timidly.
Thus, the scene at the beginning occurred.
Amuro Tooru found the mysterious man's residence using the address Gin sent him.
Luxury apartment?
Amuro Tooru looked at the luxury apartment building in front of him with suspicion. It seemed that this person was probably an important member of the organization, otherwise they would not have bought the most expensive luxury apartment in Beika Town for him.
This luxury apartment building is the most expensive in Beika Town, with a living environment comparable to a luxury villa, and the price is also astronomical.
Amuro Tooru found the room number and politely rang the doorbell.
After a while, the door was opened, and what appeared before Bourbon was not the young man he had expected, nor an old man, nor a woman, but a boy who looked to be only 14 or 15 years old.
The boy had slightly curly black hair, bright and unique amber eyes with a hint of melancholy, pale skin, and delicate features. He looked like a very innocent and kind-hearted junior high school student.
Amuro Tooru's first thought was that he had come to the wrong place, but then he remembered that the person who had commanded him during a mission last time was a boy.
Could it be...
Looking at the boy in front of him, Amuro Tooru had a guess in his mind.
"You're Bourbon, right? Come in." The boy had a kind smile on his face, making people feel incredibly close to him.
The boy's voice awakened Amuro Tooru's memories. It was the same voice that had commanded him back then—so it was him, the member who needed special care from the codenamed members.
Bai Yexiu looked at Bourbon in front of him, not expecting that Gin would actually find someone to be his cook.
Gin, seriously, I'm crying my eyes out...
