Chapter 19 Grandma Deok-sun
Chapter 19 Grandma Deok-sun
"Seo-woo! Seo-woo!" Deok-sun shouted as she pushed open the courtyard gate.
"Deok-sun! Come over here quickly, I just made breakfast!" Liu Shuyu opened the door and saw Deok-sun entering the yard. He quickly pushed open the door and called out with a smile.
"Mmm!" Deok-sun chuckled and nodded repeatedly.
Liu Shuyu's family
There were three baskets of xiaolongbao and two baskets of siu mai on the table. Deok-sun was holding a xiaolongbao in her left hand and a siu mai in her right hand, stuffing them into her mouth.
On the table were the pickled beans that Deok-sun had brought over, made by her grandmother.
"Huh? What are you looking at me for! Here, you have one too," Deok-sun picked up a small steamed bun and stuffed it into Yoo Seo-woo's mouth.
Liu Shuyu was watching Deok-sun eat xiaolongbao when suddenly a xiaolongbao stuffed his mouth full.
He could only puff out his cheeks to eat, and looking at Deok-sun's grinning face, he managed to force a smile through his bulging cheeks.
Looking at Liu Shuyu, whose cheeks were full from being fed, Deok-sun patted her round belly and said, "Shuyu! Your cooking is really... burp~~ getting better and better." As she spoke, she let out a burp.
Liu Shuyu had just finished eating the steamed bun he'd stuffed into his mouth when he asked teasingly, "You don't like it?"
"No! I like it very much!" Deok-sun quickly denied.
"If you like it, why don't I see you coming here often?" Liu Shuyu continued.
Deok-sun paused for a moment, then said with a grin, "Then I'll come every day from now on, okay?"
"Hey! You said it yourself, I make your portion every day, it'd be a waste if you didn't come!" Liu Shuyu, having succeeded in his scheme, leaned back with a grin.
Deok-sun was taken aback by his words and blushed slightly.
They grabbed two xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and ran away.
Liu Shuyu watched Deok-sun run away and called after her, "Remember!"
"Okay." Deok-sun waved her hand, her voice fading into the distance, and soon she was running into the alley.
Before entering the courtyard, she glanced back and saw Liu Shuyu still standing outside the door watching her. Her face turned even redder. She pushed open the door and took several deep breaths before calming down.
"Hey? Special Forces? What are you doing?" Bora asked, puzzled, as she came out to take out the trash and saw Deok-sun behind the door.
"It's nothing." Deok-sun didn't answer and quickly ran back.
"That's weird," Paula muttered as she walked to the door.
I had just arrived at the door when I saw Liu Shuyu coming over again with a plate.
"Oh, good morning, sister," Liu Shuyu greeted Paula politely.
"Oh, Shu-yu!" Bora looked Liu Shu-yu up and down, then gave him a strange smile and said, "Are you going to give this to Deok-sun?"
"Oh? Oh! I brought this for you to eat. I just made some xiaolongbao and shumai this morning. I heard that Grandma Deok-sun was coming, so I made a lot of breakfast and brought some over for you to try," Liu Shuyu quickly said.
“Oh~~~ For Deok-sun…Grandma!” Bora deliberately drew out the word “Deok-sun” before calmly saying, “She’s inside, go in.”
"Oh, okay, sister," Liu Shuyu said, carrying the plate inside.
Bora chuckled as she watched him go, thinking to herself, "Deok-sun, that lazy bum (the Korean word for 'study expert' is a homophone for 'team'), I never thought someone would actually take notice of her."
While I found it amusing, I was also somewhat relieved, relieved that my younger sister was lucky enough to often get free meals and drinks.
Deok-sun took the food Liu Shu-yu brought home and ate most of it. Meanwhile, Deok-sun was completely satisfied, laughing hysterically, unable to compete with Yu-hui who was engrossed in devouring the food...
Paula's House
"Deok-sun! Deok-sun!" Yoo Seo-woo called out as he reached the door.
"Oh dear, Deok-sun, Seo-woo is here again," Bora's mother said to her mother-in-law. Hearing the call, she patted Deok-sun on the shoulder.
Deok-sun launched herself into the air with lightning speed, and while putting on her shoes, she didn't forget to purse her lips and tidy her hair.
"Shuyu! Hehe!" Deok-sun looked at Shuyu at the door with a grin.
"Deok-sun, Grandma's here! I've brought you some breakfast I made!" Liu Shuyu said, quickly handing over a plate to Deok-sun, who was all smiles.
"Mmm!" Deok-sun nodded.
"Shuyu, come in and have a seat!" Paula's mother called from inside the room.
"Oh, okay, Auntie!"
Deok-sun held the plate with both hands and let Yoo Seo-woo walk in front. Just as she reached out to close the door, she loosened her grip on the plate. It turned out that Yoo Seo-woo was worried that she wouldn't be able to hold it steady with one hand, so he took it from her.
Deok-sun smiled blankly, then immediately lowered her head, her face slightly flushed.
"Hey! Sung Deok-sun! Are you trying to lock me out?" Unfortunately, Bora's voice came from outside the door, which startled Deok-sun so much that she quickly pushed the door open.
Bora raised her fist as if to throw a punch, which startled Deok-sun, who grabbed Yoo Seo-woo's arm and hid behind him.
Seeing Deok-sun hiding, Bora glanced at Yoo Seo-woo, pursed her lips, and didn't continue hitting Deok-sun, but went inside.
Watching Bora leave, Deok-sun happily made faces behind Bora. As if sensing something, Bora suddenly turned around, startling Deok-sun, who then shrank back behind Yoo Seo-woo.
Out of consideration for Liu Shuyu and her grandmother, Bora held back again, seemingly planning to wait a couple of days before beating Deoksun...
"Oh, Shuyu's here again, bringing things again. Oh, I told you I didn't need them," Paula's mom said quickly after waiting a while and saw Liu Shuyu carrying a plate in. She then skillfully took the plate from Liu Shuyu.
"Hello Auntie, hello Uncle, hello Grandma!" Liu Shuyu greeted them one by one, and then said, "Deok-sun said Grandma is here, so I came to see her and also to pick up some of the steamed buns and shumai I made myself."
"Oh, Mom, this is the neighbor I told you about, Liu Shuyu. He's such a good boy, so hardworking in his studies, unlike Deok-sun..."
"Dad!~~" Deok-sun gave her father a reproachful look as he was about to reveal all his secrets to her dear grandmother.
"Ahem," Paula's dad said awkwardly for a moment, "Honey, put the buns Shuyu made in the middle."
"I was just about to tell you to tidy up the middle part." Paula's mom rolled her eyes at him. "Why didn't you tidy it up? Where are you going to put it?"
Paula's dad glanced awkwardly at his wife and quickly cleared away the clutter in the middle.
"Seo-woo?" Grandma Deok-sun called out.
"Hmm? Grandma!" Liu Shuyu replied.
"You..." Grandma had a long chat with him, and Liu Shuyu answered every question. He was polite and sensible, which made Grandma like the young man instantly.
Deok-sun stared blankly at Liu Shu-yu, who was chatting happily with his grandmother, and couldn't help but smile like an aunt.
"Hey! Sung Deok-sun!" But Bora always manages to pull her out of her daydream at these moments.
"What?" Deok-sun asked, looking displeased as her reverie was interrupted.
"It's nothing," Bora said, looking at the unhappy Deok-sun with a mischievous grin.
"That's weird!" Deok-sun muttered.
"What did you say?" Paula heard this and prepared to unleash her power.
"It's nothing!" Deok-sun quickly ran behind her grandmother to hide.
