Chapter 43 Bet
Chapter 43 Bet
"Oh, great! There's a hole, so air can still get in. It'll definitely be cool~" Paula's dad made an inappropriate joke.
"Me!! You actually mean that!! You actually mean that!! Ah!!" Paula's mom punched him hard a few times.
"You're always talking about money. Money is something that comes and goes!" Paula's dad, unrepentant, was still trying to argue his point.
"Only someone who has experienced it can say that, right? Have you experienced it? Huh!"
Paula's mom was so angry with Paula's dad that she threw down the vegetables and left.
"You, really! Hey~ which dish should we prepare first?" Paula's dad shouted at Paula's mom's back.
......
Jung-hwan's house.
Ms. Leopard stood with her arms crossed, her expression calm, watching Jung-hwan's father perform.
"...two, three, four," Zheng Huan's dad placed the oranges he bought on the table one by one.
"Ha~~" When Ms. Leopard heard him count to four, she was so angry that she deflated.
"You thought there were four?" Zhengfeng's father said with amusement.
"five!"
Ms. Leopard stared at Zhengfeng's father, her lips noticeably turning down.
"Are you kidding me?"
"There are four people in your family, and you only bought five?" Ms. Leopard asked.
"One for each of us~ You can have two~~" Zhengfeng's dad replied, though stingy, showing his love for his wife.
Ms. Leopard took a deep breath and sat down in the chair. She was furious with Zhengfeng's father's stinginess. He had money but didn't know how to use it. He was still the same stingy man he always was.
"Honey, I'm begging you!"
"Can't you live like a human being?"
"Spend money like everyone else, live like everyone else! Mr. Kim Sung-kyun?"
Ms. Leopard spoke rapidly to Zhengfeng's father, her tone not harsh, but it made him feel a great deal of pressure.
"What's wrong with living like this?" Zhengfeng's father replied with a rare seriousness.
"Just three years ago, where could we get these oranges?"
"We don't even have rice; we eat that dumpling soup every day..."
Zhengfeng's father calmly explained the reasons for his frugality, hoping that Ms. Leopard would agree with him. However, seeing Ms. Leopard roll her eyes, he couldn't help but continue.
"When I think back to the days when I carried a metal bag (delivery box) and look at it now, it feels like a dream!" Zhengfeng's father is content with the present. Whenever he thinks of the hard times of the past, he always feels a sense of melancholy. His frugality is a habit he has cultivated over a long period of time.
"Again, again, again, again, again bringing up things from the past?"
Each "again" grew louder and louder, and Ms. Leopard was completely enraged by Zhengfeng's father, roaring furiously.
"If you like metal bags so much, then go ahead and carry one!"
After speaking, Ms. Leopard looked at Zhengfeng's father, who remained silent, and sighed again.
"Oh dear~~ What good is money if you have it?"
"You're not keeping up with the level again? Ugh!"
“I’m really worried that the children will end up like you! I’m so worried!” Ms. Leopard said through gritted teeth.
"Zhengfeng, what are you planning to do? He's just like you, introverted and stingy! How will he survive in society? Aren't you worried at all?" Ms. Leopard asked, directly targeting Zhengfeng's father.
“Things will change once you go to university,” Zhengfeng’s father replied in a softened tone.
"But you still need to study to go to university!!!" Ms. Leopard retorted angrily.
“Zhengfeng has been studying in his room every day lately,” Zhengfeng’s father couldn’t help but defend his son.
"Want to make a bet?" Ms. Leopard asked Zhengfeng's father, her eyes seemingly seeing right through him.
Their eyes met, and they both fell silent...
Zhengfeng's room.
A desk lamp was casting its light, illuminating a man who was engrossed in his work. He was Jin Zhengfeng, the eldest son of Ms. Leopard.
Following the light, I saw him carefully working with tweezers; it was clear he was learning stamp collecting...
"Click~~"
Zhengfeng was so startled by the sound of the door opening that he tore the stamp to shreds. Before he could even turn around, he was heartbroken and overheard his parents' conversation.
“Look! Is that studying?” Ms. Leopard said to Zhengfeng’s father, then turned to ask Zhengfeng.
Are you studying right now?
"No!" Zhengfeng answered decisively and concisely.
"There are only a few days left until the exam. Aren't you going to go to university?" Zhengfeng's father said calmly.
“The President of Uzbekistan once said that you can learn more from stamps than you can from school,” Zhengfeng said to his parents.
"Your mother said the same thing!"
"You useless piece of trash"
You son of a bitch!
"You've already repeated a grade for five years!"
"Anyone with a sound mind would sit at the table and study so hard they wouldn't have time to eat or poop, even if it was for their parents' sake!"
…………
Deok-sun's House
"Dad! Can you buy me a handshake? I'm the only one in my class who doesn't have one!" Deok-sun finally couldn't help but ask as she watched the TV commercial.
“Oh, your sister has one, you can use them together,” Paula’s father gently reassured his second daughter.
“Mine is broken, buy me a new one too.” Paula’s voice rang out untimely from the side.
"Of course we'll buy it!" Paula's dad then gave a live performance of the traditional Chinese art of face-changing...
"Never mind~ I didn't have any hope anyway~~" Deok-sun looked like she had expected it, which made people feel sorry for her.
"Eat more wild vegetables, they were all bought by Dad..." Bora's dad said guiltily, glancing at Deok-sun twice.
Deok-sun was indeed thinking about other things. She had only mentioned it casually when she saw the advertisement today and hadn't expected her father to buy it for her, but she was still a little disappointed.
As for why Liu Shuyu didn't send one, well, Deok-sun has her pride too, you know!
However, she had already come up with a solution: the dance she had been preparing for, which was going to be used in the performance competition for the school trip. The first prize was a "WoWo" Walkman.
Sunlight streamed through the windows of Shuangmen Girls' High School. Some students were painting their nails, others were performing magic tricks, and still others were using tarot cards to predict their love lives...
Meanwhile, Deok-sun, Man-ok (Jang Mi-ok), and Jo-hyun (Wang Zi-xian) are diligently practicing their dance for tomorrow's school trip.
"Whoosh~" Just as they were getting to the climax of the dance, Deok-sun became clearly out of sync with the other two, and Man-yuk and Jo-hyun had no choice but to stop.
"Click~~" Manyu turned off the recorder.
"Hey~ Sung Deok-sun, you danced wrong again!" Jo-hyun said, turning her head.
"Huh? It wasn't me! It was... it was Manyu who danced the wrong way!" Deok-sun argued, even framing her best friend.
"Crazy woman!" Manyu ignored her false accusation and simply shouted at her with contempt...
"Sung Deok-sun! You're really not suited to dancing! We've been practicing for months, and you still can't even dance this well!" Jo-hyun said angrily.
